Hey there fellas...
I was wondering... is there somebody here on the forum that also has got dry hair?? I was wondering if it would be possible to show me some pictures of long hair that is dry...
Actually, I've been geting a little angry over my hair type recently... I'm geting really worried that I'm never gonna be able to grow my hair to look the way I liked it to look. Even tough it's wavy, which i do like, I'm afraid that I won't be able to get it healthy at butt lenght because of the dryness =( I didn't want to depend on oils like coconut of jojoba, I just wanted my hair to be soft and at least medium quality, not dry nor oily...
Oh well =( I realy wanted this to be a phase. I look at my sister's hair and it is so straight, soft, silky, all one length and free from fly aways, and I look at mine and actually I do see a lot of shine and I also love my colour but I figure out that I'm full of fly aways, all my hair that's not the longest lenght sticks out of the hair body and that realy irritates me... my biggest problem is hat everytime I enter the bathroom I just can't help it and I look at the back mirror to take a sneak and I actually tought that it was all ok, but today I closed up to the mirror and it's all fly aways... =( =( =( =( =( I really wanted that to change... I mean, my hair will be THIS dry forever? Ugh... I know that I won't cut it but still I'm afraid that it won't look the way I expected. I just seem to find my hair always worst than everybody else's hair. I'm always afraid of breaking it, I'm always afraid to wear it down, everytime I wash it is get really puffy. Is this still part of the awkward stage?? Will those fly aways get flat someday? Can I be doing something wrong?
='(
Sorry for the big post however... Thank's for reading and I hope someone can help me or even explaining what's going on...
Hello:
I've been through the same thing. I have dry hair as well, and I envy people who have straight, silky, shiny hair. But I've learned to appreciate my dry, curly-ish hair. In general, I think dry hair tends to look fuller, and I've started to like that it looks a bit wild and unkempt at times. However, I still use jojoba oil to keep it under control. Click on the link below for a pic of the back of my head, which shows what my hair looks like on most days.
For the record, jojoba oil will *not* make your hair look or feel only. It only takes a couple of drops rubbed between your palms then worked through your hair, and the result will be far fewer flyaways and a bit of an even richer color.
Cheers,
Jeremy
I have really dry and curly hair but its not long enough to you you that it will straitn out somday. But I have found an amazing product, its a straightening ultra gel made by aquage. It dosnt really straighten my hair too much but just enough to made the body go down alot, it looks really good. Also it makes your hair the softest and silkly feeling you wont get with anything else. Its not really a gel it isnt thick at all, its a treatment more then a gel so its not bad for your hair. Well im gonna stop goin crazy hahaha. You should try it out:)
Hair gets dry, especially when it's longer. After looking at all your pics, I don't think that you have a problem at all; I would love to have your hair!!! Be proud, enjoy it and look forward to even longer!
Hey Joao,
I know how detemined you are to grow super long hair and maintain it in optimum condition but i don't think you need to worry and be overly self critical. Your hair looked superb in your last update and very healthy and thick and growing nicely.
I have dry hair aswell. Infact, i am always struggling to keep my hair looking healthy and nice. Sometimes i even feel like cutting because i get shocking hair days where my hair looks like a frizzy mess. Dryness can be alleviated by using an oil treatment as mentioned or a leave in conditioner, and applied to the ends. Flyaways can be reduced by cold water rinsing after conditioning and leave a portion of conditioner residue in my hair - well in my experience with my hair anyways.
Some days my hair looks better than others but i ust gotta stop worrying about my hair and looking in the mirror and not fret over it. Perfection is not something that can be maintained 100% of the time. Just enjoy the journey and love your beautiful hair because you have come a long way already. Cheers.
Yes, we are our own worst critics. Joao David, you have great looking hair. Please don't let the expectations of what you had thought you would have ruin the great experience of what you have achieved so far in your hair growth.
i have dry hair =s so i use Dove Shampoo and use Dove Conditioner in my hair. it helps keep my hair moisturized and prevents fly-aways. i also take a supplements (omega-3 and coral calcium) to help my hair grow in more healthily and shiny. it might help if you take herbs. they help build elasticity in your hair.
also your hair gets puffy??? i'm guessing you have naturally curly hair and you brush it straight like me (except i have big hair LOL)...you should only brush your hair once a week or once every 2 weeks if you want it to straighten out. brushing your hair warps it. try leaving your hair in a pony tail when you don't feel like dealing with it and comb it with a "Fish Comb".
i would show you a picture of my elder sister's hair but she'd kill me LOL it's big like mine but it's all the way down her back and it's heavier and oilier than mine.
Hey, thank's for replying =)
I have already tried Dove and it's certainly a good product. Tough, my hair is not curly... it's only got a slight wave to it, which I do like, but still it's faaar away from being curly =) Anyways, thank's for your advice =)
There sure is..........yours truly. BUT.........TONS of Conditioner does wonders in my particular case. Perhaps you have tried while washing to leave lots of conditioner in before washing out? (But not completely out........say 90% or so.) If you click on my avatar you can see what Conditioner does for my dry hair.
Good luck and hope you will find a solution.
Hey there
I haven't been around too much lately, so I don't know if you already said you do this, but what works for me is to only wash my hair with shampoo like once or twice a week, and the rest of the week just use water to rise out my hair really well. I use a boar-bristle brush which is supposed to be really good for spreading oils evenly through your hair. I just rise my hair out pretty well, and towel it dry a bit (gently). If i am going to work I pull it into a pony tail, if not i usually let it air dry loose. My hair is still *a little* dry, but it's healthy. I live in the desert though (new mexico) so I cannot expect hair hair to be too luxuriously smooth out here. I have been thinking of trying once a week to put jojoba oil in my hair, but haven't tried it yet.
Anyway that's what I do, and it seems to work all right. Hope you find what works for you!!
Hey...
Thank's for all the help and advice you provided fellows =) Actually, I don't wash my hair too ften, only twice a week maximum =S I just think I should try a natural oil aplied once in a while, what bad could it be?... Also I do still I should really chill out over my hair and just let it come along - I'm certain everything it's gonna be perfect in the end (it's already becoming =) )
Thank's for all the kind words and helpfull advice, well apreciated =) =) =)
