Well technically it will be two years on April 9 (in two days) since I got my last haircut but this is close enough :)
Anyway, on to the pictures!
This wouldn't have been possible without this board so I would like to thank all the regulars posting great tips everyday and to helgast in particular (if he still comes around here) for his progress pictures which inspired me to keep growing.
This third year should be easy :)
Wow! Your curls are looking fantastic.
Nice length for 2 years and the ponytail looks very thick.
There aren't many guys around here with curly hair, only a handful.
If you didn't know Helgast has a buzz cut type style now, his hair is history.
What hair products do you use for shampoo and conditioner?
Have you had a trim for split ends yet?
Do you usually wear your hear tucked behind or over your ears?
Keep it growing and flowing.
Thanks, yours are looking awesome too!
Usually people tell me my hair is short for the time I've been growing I just tell them it's because of the curls.
Us curlies need to stick together :)
Yup I know he cut off most of this hair :(
I use Garnier Fructis conditioner and most of the time the shampoo also.
I had a trim in february by my mom with a set of regular cheap $2 scissors, I'm not sure if it caused more harm than good because I have never been able to find any split ends but the tangles did go away. Since then I've been trying new things and now I've finally got a good routine. Shampoo and condition every 2 days and only condition most other days since if I get sweaty from riding my bike. If for some reason I don't get sweaty I don't wash it and my hair is usually superb the next day.
Ever since about a week or two ago when I read your post about sleeping with an untied band for sleeping, I've been doing that for day and night, all the time before that I would just tuck it behind my ears or on rare occasions tie it into a pony tail which I hate the feeling of.
I get the same remarks. When i strech my curls out they exceed 9 inches now, pretty darn long. Somedays my curls look more compressed and appear shorter than their true length.
GF is very good. I use it sometimes too.ATM, i'm using a natural conditioner which is silicone free.
Invest in a profesional pair of salon scissors. I bought mine with a free case for $30(AUD) which isn't very expensive. Keep them clean and look after them and ake sure they are kept exclusively for trimming hair not for cutting paper or anything else. Sharp scissors are essential for trimming split ends.
Well that is great that my method has worked well for you. Just chuck your hair into open elastic which will keept your hair together and restrained but it isn't tight as to cause discomfort when you sleep. I only do this for sleeping but if you like to wear it every day and it holds ok then go for it. Cheers.
Congratulations!
Looks superb - job well done. At three years, it's going to look great!
- Oren
Thanks Oren, I'm looking foward to three years also. :)
Congratulations !!
You, along with so many others on this board, prove that men should wear thier hair long......What a fantastic change.
Looks like you shed a few pounds along the way too !
Lookin' Good !!
Thanks for Sharing
Thanks, and now that you mention it I think I have lost a few pounds. Keen eye you have there!
You said it........like a breeze!
But of your 2 years? Absolutely unbelievable!!!!! That is super fantastic hair no question.
APPLAUSE!
*bows down* hehe
Thanks Justin
Splendid curls there, man! Your hair is so darn thick and long! Awesome change from your before pic. It is like two different guys in your before and now pics. More short hair guys should see this kind of thing so they can see what they're missing out on. :) You would definitely inspire some new converts :)
Fantastic hair dude!
That would be really cool if my pics inspired someone to grow their hair long.
Great hair! I just past the 2 year mark last month and you're right... the 3rd year should be easy!
--Rick
I sure hope so!
Wow that's amazing progress and the hair looks really great and nice to more people with curly hair. I'm sure 80's metal would agree with that. I'm glad it's been a breeze for thr first two year and the following ones should be as well and keep it growing. Also great to see well lookd after thick hair as well.

I will defenitely keep it growing. My hair really isn't that well looked after, I just kinda leave it alone most of the time :)
You certainly have come a long way in the past two years, and have attained a fine looking head of hair.
It relly does look great, so thick. I have only seen a few people that can just put the hair thru the hair tie once and it stays! Good job!
Why thank you :P
As usual, whenever I see a before and after photo, I'm well and truly convinced. The short hair is "a safe choice" and highly acceptable by the general public, but longer hair brings out a certain character in a person that shorter hair just cannot achieve. You now have that character.
I just can't wait till I have it to my shoulders or beyond. It's gonna be great. I just know it!
Luke
I seem to be remembered alot easier now, people always say they can tell it's me from a mile away, which is a good thing I guess ;)
Good luck on growing yours out and be sure to post progress pictures!
WHOA!!!
Wow dude, what a difference, dare I say immense improvement. You look way softer, freer and cooler now, a look I'm sure a lot of people will take to. And what a ponytail! Since your hair's finally hit shoulder-length and beyond, gravity should start really pulling at your hair. You'll reach mid-back in no time, and what an amazing sight THAT'll be.
Your hair is really more wavy than curly except some parts at the bottom, but I'd still say you're one of us curly hairs on this board. :P
Keep up the stellar work, and darn you, you easy-third-year-of-growing person. :P I'm just approaching the second year myself.
I'm not sure if I'll grow it to midback but who knows, I rarely see the back of my hair so up until yesterday I didn't even know it was that long!
I agree, and when I wear a band for a few hours it tends to get less curly but if I take it off they go right back up.
You seem to have alot of knowledge about curly hair so I can't wait to see yours in a year or so!
You long thick curly hair looks great after only 2 years of growth. It will look awesome at the end of 3 years.

Nice hair; great update...
Congratulations!
Looks fantastic, Blueice. Good color, body and texture, and I agree with those who said you look like a different person. For the record, I think those thick ponytails are a great look, and I'd always wondered how those were done. Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely fantastic, thick curly hair at it's best. Keep it growing and I wouldn't change a thing, whatever routine you have is working well. I also like to wear an untied band when I wear my hair back.
Thanks Bodhi, means alot coming from you :)
Awww wish Id got hair like this looks great oh well should be happy what Ive already got !
