Well, another month has gone by. I continue to experiment with a variety of conditioners and washing/conditioning/oiling techniques. I think everyone's hair is different and it just takes a while to find what works best. I know my hair's in better condition since giving up washing every day.
For anyone in the awkward stage, hang in there! The journey is well worth it.
Now thats gaining length since the last time i saw your hair in a Ponytail Looks good looks better hanging though
Axel
Wow, it really is coming along very nicely indeed. What is your goal length? It will only look better from here.
Matt
Hi Matt,
Thanks. My goal is for at least mid/lower back but may go terminal out of curiosity.
Jason,
Your hair is ever looking superb.
That is so true about experimenting to find out what works best for your own individual hair type. Your hair looks very well oiled and shiny and the beautiful orange colour really glows in the sun. The low ponytail is getting longer and the back shot really shows your true progress - lots of length!
I guess i'll catch you on the other board, Long hair board.
Cheers mate.
Thanks Jean.
The day I took these photos I had used a pretty heavy conditioner (Suave Milk & Honey) and also had used some jojoba oil. I think it made my hair slightly too oily but once in a while it's probably good for your hair to do that. Next time I take photos I probably won't have it so oiled though.
Jason, you're an insipration to ALL of us. Thanks for sharing your journey with the board.
Thanks! I'm glad I can be an inspiration of sorts :)
Jason,
The long hair and facial hair looks AWESOME!!! The both compliment your features extremely well. Am sure you must be getting a lot of looks from both girls and guys. Very Handsome!
Karsten
Hi Karsten,
Thanks for the vote of confidence :)
Not sure about keeping the beard but it will always be at least a seasonal thing.
Jason
Once again, your update pic assures that I am most jealous of your hair over anyone elses :)
Color, texture, health. All gorgeous. I hope one day I would be so lucky, but in 2 years i might not have much hair left. Enjoy it for the both of us, friend. Rock on.
~Rome
Hi Rome,
Thanks for the compliments :)
You have a fantastic color yourself and it's looking thick to me. Enjoy your journey!
Jason
Looks great - I love the fullness and the color. For some reason, to me it appears much longer when viewed from the back. Keep it growin'.
If my hair is half as good as yours when it gets to that sort of length, I certainly will hang in there through the awkward stage.
Your hair is stunning to say the very least!
LukeB
Well, all I can say is that your hair looks outstanding Jason. You really have an awesome length and it really is in great condition. I really like the colour as well, and the facial hair compliments the rest of you're look perfectly.
You are currently exactly where I want to be within this year if that's possible. Take care dude.
I can only hope my hair will look as good when it gets some more length... u have incredibly cool hair man!
Your hair is looking fantastic Jason.
You are well on your way on your journey to mid-back length, which I continue to assert, will look frickin' awesome!
What can I say?...fabulous and congratulations!!! and please don't be in too much of a hurry to shed the beard...it is an integral part of one awesome image!! proud of you for your perseverence!
my business (men's grooming/imaging) website
Looking really good Jason!
Wow, your hair is looking great of course and I love the color!
Very, very, very nice. I appreciate the fact that you update every month. Although you may not notice a whole lot of difference each month - because you see yourself every day - we who only see you once a month really do notice the differences.
And, we appreciate the inspiration that your beautiful hair provides.
Looks really great Jason!
EVER SO TRUE!
Justin
Very nice, Jason! Your hair's like mine, real fine. Is the reddish coloring on the ends natural?
Keep it growing!
--Rick
Thanks Rick.
Actually my hair is more medium than fine, at least according to the following hair typing guide found at TLHC:
"F - Fine
Thin strands that sometimes are almost translucent when held up to the light. Shed strands can be hard to see even against a contrasting background. Similar to hair found on many people of Scandinavian descent.
You can also try rolling a strand between your thumb and index finger. Fine hair is difficult to feel or it feels like an ultra-fine strand of silk
M - Medium
Strands are neither fine nor coarse. Similar to hair found on many Caucasians.
You can also try rolling a strand between your thumb and index finger. Medium hair feels like a cotton thread. You can feel it, but it isn't stiff or rough. It is neither fine or coarse.
C - Coarse
Thick strands that where shed strands usually are easily identified against most backgrounds. Similar to hair found on many people of Asian or native American descent.
You can also try rolling a strand between your thumb and index finger. Coarse hair feels hard and wiry. As you roll it back and forth, you may actually hear it."
I can easily see my hair against any background and it feels much more like cotton thread than fine silk.
Yes, I have reddish highlights.
Jason... thanks for the info. Didn't know about that! Using the info you gave, mine is definitely fine. After reading the info, I found a loose hair and gave it the test. Didn't realize it at first but I got a gray hair, which seems to act like monofilament fishing line... it blends in any color background, including black!
The highlights look real cool!
Jason - superb!
Superb progress every time, Jason. Your hair's definitely something to envy! I must say that the reddish color (titian?) is really quite beautiful, and it's great to see someone displaying it to the world. Many guys with reddish hair I know go the skinhead path because for some reason, a lot of young people guys seem to think it's a geeky color. *shrugs* If anything, it's a poetic color.
I was expecting a half-tail pic, but oh well. :P
Keep up the inspiring progress!
Thanks, man.
The pictures are somewhat deceiving in that my red highlights only really come out in direct sunlight. Without sunlight my hair is much more brown looking. I do like the red highlights though.
I'll do a halftail next time :)

Jason, your hair is looking fantastic. It gets better with every update. From this length and beyond, it will get more enjoyable. Keep growing it. While you are at it, try growing 2 or 3 inches of length on your beard too. It will complement your hair.
Long hair forever.
Absalom
Thanks guys and here's to everyone reaching their goals!
Congratulations, Jason, it looks better and better, and I'm getting more and more envious ;-) your current length seems to be about my terminal length... I'd really love to see you with your hair past your butts ;-)
Best wishes!
