Greetings,
I am new to the site, and currently my hair is about one inch all over. It was about 5 inches long all over before I cut it due to months of hairdryer damage; I wont make that mistake again. Here is my situation: I have 24 months to let my hair grow out before I graduate from college and become a school teacher. I figure that my goal should be to have the best looking ponytail possible at 24 months.
Question: Would it be better to let it all grow out and not cut any of it, of keep the bottom back trimed even at the hairline?
any input would be appricated! If anyone has any 2 year update before and after pics, that would really help me out too!
Thank you!
Ryan
So you are growing out your hair to wear in a ponytail. That's cool, i have been wearing a ponytail alot lately because i have been too busy with life and don't have time to worry abut my hair and what i look like in front of the mirror for hours.
But apart from that, long hair is better worn down.
Keep away from blowdryers this time and don't trim your hair.
Use a good conditioner and be gentle on your hair and don't neglect it. Common sense and general hair care should prevail.
If you have straight hair your ponytail should look great in 2 years. Mine is like a big moth ball because i have curly hair, lol.
To get a neat, slicked back, professional look whilst tying a ponytail ... apply water to hair, comb back, tie up with elastic, spray with a bit of hairspray to get a lasting hold. A leave in conditioner will also reduce those annoying flyaways and make your hair look ace.
Don't cut it.
Let it all grow out, and all will eventually look great.
Does this mean that you plan to cut it off when you graduate?
I'm right at 24 months myself, with semi-curly/wavy hair. I've been able to pull up a tail since around New Year, and I have not had a cut or trim since I made the call to grow it out.
Good luck to ya!

HI and welcome!
For the BEST look of all, allow ALL of your hair grow. No trims or even-ups.
Your Ponytail will look very well in 2 years time.
Good luck to you.
Your suggestions are great! Thank you all for your time and ideas! Look forward to getting to you you over my journey.

Ryan,
24 months is plenty of time to get a decent tail going. I am 4 months past the two year mark and I have a nice tail going.
Here is a pic of me before I grew my hair out. This pic is old, but the hair style is the same when I decided to grow it long.

...The most important part, DON'T LET ANYONE TALK YOU INTO CUTTING IT!!.
