Hi everybody, I got a small problem, and I was wondering if any of you knew how I could deal with it. For starters, I've been growing my hair since about mid December '05, and haven't had it cut, with the exception of a cut to get the damaged ends off. But as it's gotten longer I've noticed something kind of odd. The hair in the front is growing tons slower than the hair in the back of my head. My bangs stop at about one milimeter past my eye brows it's overall about 1.5 inches in length, and grows about .5 inches a month , at the side and in the back it is about 4 inches long, and seems to grow about 1-1.5 inches a month. I'm told it will all slow down and even out as I give it time, but I guess I need reassurance.
Also, something else, is my hair is incredibly defiant to any styling things. Since I go to a school where they can impose incredible stupid rules, hair is one issue they have very strict rules pertaining how hair can be. Unfortunately, my goal for waist length hair will have to wait until I graduate (luckily thats this year), but male students can have hair at max to their shoulders. What's the catch? It has to be kept in a professional state. Their idea of professional is to have it clean (which isn't trouble for me)and to have pulled back somehow (ponytail, grease back, etc). The problem is, my hair isn't quite long enough to have in a ponytail, so my only option is to hold is back with some kind of styling product. I've tried everything; mousse, pomade, gel, hair spray, everything short of just dumping a bottle of cooking oil on my hair. I've managed to at least keep it semi-acceptable, but their getting harder and harder on me about it every day, and if I can't get it to stay, I risk having to redo the year (harsh isn't it?). So if you know any good products I can use to keep my hair down, please let me know. Well that turned out longer than I planned, but I suppose it's worth it. I look forward to your replies.
The Red Can of 'Dax Wax.' It is in your local drugstore in the hairdye area usually. Its kept away from the hairproduct section for some reason. Beware, this wax is tuff stuff. Get a bit, rub between hands real good to melt it, apply by rubbing it in real good. Comb your hair back jack and you will be flyin' high all day. This stuff is awesome, but wash it out everyday. It makes your hair feel a little greasy, but your hair ain't goin' anywhere so you ain't gonna touch it anyway. Do this till you can tie your hair back, and no whining about it damaging your hair or Im gonna have to start slapping.
Thanks for the tip. I ran out and purchased a can of it before going to school. It worked really well, and I didn't have to worry about my hair overcoming it. It doesn't seem to be damaging my hair in any aspect, so I guess I can use it.
If your hair grows at a minimum of 1 inch per month you will have 12 inches in a year. I find this hard to believe. A inch per month is like a godly rate of growth. Hair grows 1/2 an inch per month, on average. Are you sure?
You have only been growing for 5 months and you said you hair is already 4" in the back. Dude you must be eating something good for your hair ,lol.
This might not be the cause but, until I was about 12 years old, I was a lacto-ovo vegetarian, and my hair grew kind of slow. Since then I've been eating mostly meat and vegetables with a decent amount of protien, the growth rate simply skyrocketed. So I think that protien intake helps. Also I've been taking multi-vitamins that are supposed to good for the health of your hair so that might be a factor, but nothing out of the ordinary.
just tie it and use a good old fashioned Moose to hold the loose hair back....

Go to your local hair salon and ask them for something a lot stronger than mouse. They make stuff that will work pretty well. Mouse will not hold those hairs that are not quite long enough.
