The weather here in Virginia is starting to get warm again, so that means one thing! Time to hit the pool!
I am curious as to what are your thoughts of dealing with chlorine and its effects on hair. I cannot imagine it is very good for the hair (although I do like how it helps make my hair a good shade lighter towards the later part of summer).
In the past, I just simply not wash my hair that day (often times, due to the cholorine and such, it was often that I had not need to wash my hair much during the summer, unless I was out mowing the lawn or got done working out in the gym, thus resulting in my hair being all sweaty/nasty).
Any good suggestions as to what to do to help maintain healthy hair after spending a day swimming at the chlorinated pool, such as any products I could spray in or such? After reading this message forum as well as that one article (Choisser?), I did not realize just what is actually involved with long hair. I've always been one of those "wash-n-wear" types. Wash the hair in the morning, comb in place, and pretty much forgot about it the rest of the day (with the occasional "finger comb" to put fly-aways back in place or to keep tangles out of it).
Where in VA are you? I'm here in Chesapeake. Work in Va. Beach. Drop me a line.
Fredericksburg! Halfway between D.C. and Richmond on I-95.
I know if you put a hair in a cup of bleach it will be gone in about 15 minutes or so... however if it really bothers you maybe could consider installing a filter or something in your shower, they will filter out chlorine. Or perhaps wash hair in a tub and add a drop of those things used to neutralize chlorine for fish tanks...
I have some info about that on my website.
