Greetings all. I have been lurking about for a bit, trying to gather inspiration to grow out my hair.
I have always kept my hair short due to private school regulations. But, as I have gotten older, I figure it's probably time to start trying different things - like growing out my hair.
I tried to let my hair grow out after a haircut back in July '05. It looked decent (I have curly hair). The longer it got, the more it curled. I didn't mind the curls at all, in fact, I did receive compliments about how it looked. The only draw back was that after it got longer, my bald spot started to really show. Unfortunately, I have not been blessed with a full head of hair.
By March 2006, after a wash, I tried to brush out my hair and I looked like a cross between Ace Ventura and Art Garfunkel. Not good at all, needless to say! I chopped my hair down to 1/2 inch all the way around. Bad move on my part, I know.
Now, it's time to begin again. Are there any suggestions to trying to grown out my hair "correctly", meaning without a bald spot showing prominently?
Thanks in advance for any advice you may be able to offer.
I know how you feel about the bald spot. I have that problem too. I have been growing for over two years now. I am thin on the top and my bangs are at terminal length. My bangs go about an inch below the chin. I still did not let that stop me from growing the rest of my hair long.
Happy re-growing,
ESDI
When it gets back longer again, try parting it in the middle, then end the part at about your ears, then from there back comb all the hair toward the back of your head, like a 'T' part.
The bald spot will still be there, but less obvious, and anyway, if you have long hair, it's the hair that is noticed, not the bald spot. Be careful in the sun too, it'll burn in just a few minutes.
AND, "It's not a bald spot, it's a solar panel for a sex machine!"
Good luck!
Try reading this link from the top of the board (under links), as well as that one, there are some other good ones too.
