Hi-
Thought I would post a "close-up" of the very bottom of my Ponytail. Do you see any signs of terminal yet? I don't myself see anything to be alarmed about and am hopeing to hit waist level by Sept. (The 4 year mark.) My hair has never been trimmed or evened-out. Only Split-Ends 2+ years ago were targeted and removed. Your opinion(s) will be very much appreciated. Thanks ever so much.
Justin~
ps: Have never really seen the end of "Terminal," that is what it looks like at close distance.
Justin,
From what i have seen of your hair it is strong and healthy and is growing rapidly. I don't see any problems why you won't hit waist length(and beyond!). No, your hair doesn't look thin at the ends and you have great hair for your age, my father is completely bald.
What is the longest your hair has been?
Have you experienced waist length hair in your lifetime yet?
Let the experts have some more to say on this.
Waist length. But this was only a single "Rat Tail" so to speak. Otherwise, for the most part, all of my hair has mostly been shoulder length to about mid-back. What a fool I was to have ever fallen for that "Buzz" in 2002. Made me look 95 instead of only 92! :-(
Thanks so much for your input 80's. Ole "Gramps" here really appreciates it. :-)
Luckily, Baldness does not run in my family. When my Father died at the age of 79 he had loss of hair only isolated to about the size of a dime right at the back of his head where the part would begin to go down if parted in the middle.
Justin~
Your hair looks pretty thick to me. You don't appear to be anywhere near terminal length - achieving waist-length should be easy!

Hi Justin, your hair does not appear to be near terminal length yet. It is best, in my opinion, to determine this with your hair loose. Think about it for a minute: When you ponytail your hair, the sides are lifted way up whilst the hair in the middle hangs more or less straight down. This gives an elongated look to your hair, making it look thinner at the end of the tail. Your hair is already in a natural V which would further exaggerate this.
I took a good look at that shot from the back with your hair loose and it does not look wispy near the ends. Furthermore, the fact that you are fully 6 feet tall and your hair nearly reaches your belt after only 4 years of growth tells me you still have a way to go. From what I have observed, you will certainly be able to grow it past your beltline and probably to classic length.(bottom of butt top of thighs)
Again, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Long hair forever.

i know this question wasn't actually meant for me to answer but i'll butt in with my own 2 cents anyway lol i doubt that's terminal hair. but if you're worried that it might be terminal, you can try drinking 1-2 cups of Soy milk as everyday as well as protein and that'll help strengthen your hair and make it grow in fuller, stronger, and shinier. and of course i'm sure you know not to brush your hair too often bc it weakens it. i hope that helps
Keep my fingers crossed that its not your terminal length but i would imagine the ends go thinner than that :-)

For most people, when they reach terminal length their hair if tightly compressed will have a conical shape that ends in a point. If you compress your mane with multiple pony ties, by braiding, or by twisting it round and round, you'll get a mass of hair that tapers. Extrapolate where the eventual tip of the tapering will be, and this is about where your terminal length will be.

I agree with everyone else, I don't think that you're close to terminal, you still have a long way to go =) Don't worry fellow =D Can't wait to see your hair at waist lenght, you're soooo close !
ever so much for all of your input. Much appreciated.
I was pretty sure that for now I had no worries, but then again am not a great expert having never seen "Terminal ends."
Again, many thanks to all.
