Well Ive now easily passed my 19 month mark (20 months is around the 7th of next month) and to my extreme annoyance my hair is still flipping at the ends although as more and more passes my shoulders it seems to stop (or at least appear better) so hopefully in the next 2-4 months they should stop (even though Ive been thinking that for the last 6 months).
On the whole however my hair seems much healthier than it was and I feel that Ive finally found the correct way to care for it (much less tangles, Ive never found a split end and I dont know whether to be worried cause I dont know what Im looking for, or ecstatic cause my hair is tough).
Anyway, thats my update for the time being. (Sorry, no pic. Maybe later)
Hey Hex -
If it makes you feel any better my hair was doing the same, and when I hit the 2 year mark was STILL doing it! (End of Ponytail) just would not keep from flipping. By 2-1/2 years the flips were little to nothing. And now no flips ever again. I can hear you on that one. Quite frustrating. Don't worry however. The Flips WILL abate.

hi,
well if it calms u down a little bit - i got these annying flips until about 2.5 years of growing time ...
i have done nothing against it and in the last 1/2 year they disappeared quickly ... now my hair is totally straight ...
the most important things is that it's still growing and that it's at acceptable health ... the flips will disappear !
greez,

Mine is about an inch or so from my shoulders, all one length (except for my former bangs, which are close to my mouth in length). Yesterday it was doing a moderate-size flip -- but I got a rare hair compliment from a young woman who said "I like how yours flips." And she was serious!
I work in a distribution center where a lot of women fill orders, and I've been surprised that almost all of them who commented on my longer hair have been supportive. But I never dreamed someone would like the flip look.
Mine is starting to do the flip as it reaches the shoulder. My hair is very fine and straight but very thick. I was not sure the flip would develop, but thick won out over straight.
I am going through my second power through period of time. The first was the grundge stage at 6 months. Now I have the hitting the shoulders flip, plus the sections directly over my temples require a ton of product as they are not quite long enough to tuck behind the ears.
I am so pleased that I finally took the plunge to become a "long-hair." Its starting to look good and I love the feel of my hair over my ears. I cant wait until I can pony tail.
