I have been a bit annoyed for some time with the way my bangs fall on my face. If I part down the centre, I find it wants to just sit straight down and looks a bit stupid quite frankly. And one side of my bangs has a flip as well.
I've discovered if I apply some product (in my case, some shaping cream or putty, whatever they call it) to the two points as shown in the photo, I can tame the flip to some extent and help the part to stay in place. Though this photo isn't the best example, using some product around this area of the hairline helps it sit in such as way that it looks better and more natural, rather than being "pasted" to my forehead. I'm happy with the result.
This is a great discovery to help me through the awkward stage until my bangs are long enough. Perhaps this might help others here.

It is good to hear that you are experimenting throughout your hair growth journey to find what can help you tackle through the awkward stage. Some guys can complain and say "oh, it's too hard this awkward crap, the hair is in my face, i'm gonna cut it all off!" but guys like you are smart and inventive and work around the problem. You are very determined to grow long hair and your hard work is going to show the results in another 1-1.5 years time.
During the early part of the awkward stage, I used to apply gel to my bangs only and part in the middle. Now i dont use any products, apart from when washing hair (shampoo/conditioner).

oh it's no problem for me. my hair naturally parts down the middle =/ lol of course...being an african american male and having a natural part in my head gets a rise out of other people lol
I just found out using hair spray solves all my problems during awkward stage. As you can see on the photo, my front hair stays out of my forehead quite neatly. Looking forward for the rest of awkward stage now as it doesn't scare me anymore :-)
Best regards and keep it growing, Alex
my hair growth photo galleryNice tip. In earlier days I used to use different kinds of wax or fudge products to keep it in place. The problem was when you wanted to wash it out.. My hair flips much less now because of the lenght. Have patiense and goodluck with your further growing
