According to the text that was with this, it is supposedly a sign posted when going through customs to enter Singapore back in the 1960s. At least we now know what the definition of "long hair" is. :-)

This picture is just so wrong, just hilarious. You can't get any more discriminating than that. What long hair? It looks like a baby mullet in my eyes. If they are worried about "long hair" of that length imagine what they would do if Danni Cecati went through there, lol. I guess it was the from the early 60s when the world was a much more conservative place.
I did some research on Google about this, and it looks like Singapore has always had an issue with men and long hair. One website said they even made men with long hair cut their hair before letting them through customs! Singapore seems to be a really strict country with just about everything. Just take a look at http://www.thingstodo-singapore.com/brochure/content.jsp?FIELD=City_Secrets to see. A lot of the 'offences' are really ridiculous - things like gum chewing that most of us just take for granted and don't even think about.
Also, take a look at http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/4157121.stm It's a year old, but it's kind of sad to see that in some parts of the world, people aren't even allowed to do what they want with their own hair without someone saying something negative about it. I also read somewhere that in Afghanistan, the police used to arrest long haired men and not let them go until they had their hair cut, or were forced to have it cut. I'm not sure if this is the case anymore, though.
don't know how it is now but under tailaban rule in
Afghanistan haircuts were actully forbidden
it was also forbidden to cut or shave your beard.
even getting a trim was enough to get you arrested
or worse
Back in the 60,70's in Taiwan police would arrest you for having long hair, that was until Chang Kai Shek gave up martial law and bought the farm. Now regulating hair length is a big issue to some people because they dont want to be reminded of those days. I dont know about work but I have seen lots of salesmen with nice long hair...
