I was just wondering. I am growing my hair and have not seen too many black men with neck to mid-back length hair. the last time I grew my hair it grew well, but I never got it straightened to see the length.
I wonder know what you guys use as leave-in conditioner(regardless of race). When I wash my hair(shampoo and condition) It looks curly sort of like a mulatto or latino. Then it dries up back to its natural kink. What can I put in my hair for leave-in conditioner b/c the conditioner I use dries real fast.
i just use Dove Shampoo and Conditioner to help keep my old growth moisturized while i take supplements everyday to help my scalp generate a sufficient amount of oil to keep my hair neat and easier to comb through.
i don't quite understand what you mean by "mulatto" or latino bc i've seen a variety of latinos with straight, curly, and kinky hair lol

I'm mean like an Afro-Latino when I say Latino. Sorry to be vague. It is very curly.
you can also find plenty of black people with non-afro-textured hair in other parts of Africa as well as India and Sri Lanka.
Well both of my parents are West African and my hair is not nappy at all. It's curly, just dry.
To the poster of the thread... I'm part-black, and my hair can get extremely curly (I've found one or 2 Z-like kinked dead hairs). I use gel when I feel like it, and the one I like the most is Suave Naturals Aloe Vera Anti-frizz gel. It might not keep the wet look permanently, though. For that, there's a kind of gel called a melting gel, although I can't remember the name of it... A fellow curlyhead on this forum used it once and had a wet hair look for hours. Just search for something on Google.
This is exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks alot.

anyways to ur question...i use Pantene Pro-V shampoo and conditioner, not really sure if its any good tho, makes my hair look like an afro, but supposedly its good. I think i kno wat u mean after u wash ur hair, its like in sorta long, yet wavy mangled locks, then it dries and its all short and really curly or is that just me hehe.

that's not always true. there are plenty of blacks with non-nappy hair. some of them have naturally straight hair, while the rest of us have loosely curly hair even if it appears to be coarse.

Doesn't the Aborigine in the pic have dreads, though? So it's not really any different from kinky hair, or at least we can't tell.
That Somali girl's purdy. :P lol.

Keep us updated, and keep growing it, man.
Peace
it's not dreads--more like clumped together in twists. the man's hair is actually wavy...but it sticks together like that for some odd reason =/ here is a better picture of Aborigine. they're also commonly referred to as "Caucasian Aborigine"
i recently started using Aloe Vera Gel too. i noticed a nice improvement in my hair too. it's become more moist and heavy although that probably has to do with my Omega-3 and multivitamins lol
Hey AfricanHair
Cool to see other people than whites only with long hair. How is your hair? Afro, dreads, straighten out?
I am a white guy, but I am interested in all hair types. One of the most important things to keep in mind is that hair styles, such as dreadlocks, is absolutely terrible for your hair. A large number of people of African descent suffer from traction alopecia, a permanent form of hair loss due to tightly pulled hair styles. There is plenty of scientific evidence to support what I am saying. Now, as far as the conditioner is concerned, I have no idea. For my hair Garnier Fructis leave in conditioner worke really well.
