It's not quite winter yet but damn it's getting cold here in the mornings. I have stopped bathing altogether because it is almost impossible. I wake up and have a really hot shower.
Thankfully i have a heater in my bathroom which i turn on to keep my a bit warmer. I really don't like showering in hot water because my hair is very fragile and hot water makes it ultra frizzy and dry and removes scalp oils. I can wear a shower cap but i was wondering if you guys have any others pointers/tips/advice. It's like a trade-off between comfort and relaxtion of a hot shower vs. protecting your hair
try rubbing a bit of gel through your hair after you take a hot shower. i have the same problem as you. and it makes my hair seem thicker than normal when i do that. so i found that rubbing some Aloe Vera Gel through my hair gives it some moisture and makes it easier to deal with
A shower cap actually works great... as long as you can stuff all your hair in there. I put mine into a loose bun (one wrap with a hair-tie) and put the loose-bun up into the cap. I only wash my hair every 3-4 days, but I shower everyday - So I do this in-between 'wash-days' and it keeps my hair safe from getting wet.
As far as the hot water itself... you should be ok, as long as you RINSE in cold (colder the better) water after conditioning, which is what I usually do.

I'm sorry for my possible ignorance, but can't you just turn the water cold/cool for a couple seconds to at least rinse your hair? That's what I do, and then I'm bathing in semi-scalding water the rest of the time, lol.
Now although we have a heater back home, we don't use it enough for me to say I'm familiar with its range of use. Is it really problematic to turn the heat down, even for a few seconds? Does it take too long to build back up, costing more, or what?
I might try that actually. Still have a hot shower just rinse with cool water at the end and see if it works ok. Otherwise, just use the shower cap.
