Here's an article about new Merlins manager Joe Girardi, and his pollcy on players being clean shaven. now, what does this have to do with being able to play?
Merlins manager wants players ''clean cut''
not if ur a yankee
It has nothing to do with one's playing ability but some teams impose more stringent uniform policies than others. Look at the Red Sox and Johnny Damon who grew his hair out to shoulder length. He subsequently sold his soul went for the Bronx money and must conform to team uniform policy. Policy will vary from team to team. Like in the real world, some employers feel that their ownership of the folks working for them extends to their appearance and dress away from the job.
here's an article I found on players and some haircut policy:
another article about the same two players from this month:
Notes: Hair today, gone
Lets call a spade a spade.....Johnny Damon sold out the Red
Sox and the fans, and sold out the long hairs of this world.
And the most insulting part? He jumped to the evil empire.
Joe Girardi was a Yankee so I guess he decided to carry that policy over when he became the manager of the Marlins.
Ironically, my favorite team has always been the Yankees.
