I have a dilemma. I am trying to figure out what I should do for two upcoming events I am attending. I have a prom to go to this friday and my dad is getting married in a few week.
For the prom, I just wanted to do something a little different than I normally wear it (which is in a crude ponytail made in a bout 15 seconds :)). Not too fancy, but just a little different. Maybe gel it back and put it in a ponytail, or leave it loose or something... idk.
For my dad's wedding, he wanted me to cut it. Naturally, I rebelled and would not do it :) I love my hair :) So just a few days ago, I got him to compromise and let me keep my hair. As long as it was neat and handsome and well groomed.
I would appreciate any opinions and/or suggestions/advice.
Thanks a lot!!

If all else fails and you don't feel comfortable trying to create something more formal, have a female friend help you out with the styling and gelling prior to both events. One of my students wanted his below shoulder length hair to look good for ring dance this year so he made an appointment at a local salon and had them wash, dry, and style it. While that may be more than you want to spend to look nice, at least it's another option available to you. Remember the females do it all the time for their special events.
By the way, it turned out great for him. She offered him some tips on how to do other things with it when he has to do it for himself again.
Nice pictures Zach Ok
The Prom I can tell you this if your use to having it in a ponytail gel it and put it in a tail but if your use to having it hanging down gel it and leave it hanging down :-)
The Wedding well when I got married I wear a ponytail as I thought it looked more smarter and neater for the pictures and it was out of my way for the whole day Wedding days are busy days and id would wear a tail again to wedding as its more manageable and plus the fact it will be hot to but the final choice is up to you

Listen, how bout a small perm,it will grow out very quickly.
Actually, it looks pretty neat loose to me, more so than in a ponytail. Can you make a half-tail? Particularly if you gel it back, that'll be a fairly compromising hairstyle.
As, FA suggested, i also believe a nice half-tail will suit you, especially so since you have straight hair.
I would be inclined to not tie a ponytail since your front bangs don't fit in and they just lay behind the ears. It looks a bit messy and awkward, with added length you won't have this issue and you will be able to tie a full tail.
Better still, just plain old wearing your hair down, nothing fancy, might be the most effective style.
