I've been growing my hair for about half a year now. What sucks for me is I have thick, slighgtly curly hair that is really hard to manage. My mom insists that I get it cut, because she feels no employer will even consider hiring me. But in addition to her doubts, I also feel like cutting my hair at times. I hate having to struggle with my hair in this awkward stage, but I like having long hair when I can keep it semi-straight. So now I don't know hwat to do, should I cut it all off, have it thinned, or just leave it?
right now you are in the awkward stage. it is going to look messy at this length naturally. with added length it would get neater and more manageable. really, your situation is pretty simple. if you want long hair, then let it grow out of this awkward stage. im in the awkward stage right now myself. but i really want long hair badly so the awkward stage doesn't bother me. this stage of growing hair really separates the men from the boys so to say. =)
I don't really care about what people think of me, but I do want a job, and where I live there is a very tight job market beacsue you're competing for minimum wage employement with thousans of illegal immigrants and other college students. Therefore, I fear that because I have long hair, employers won't even consider hriing me when they can take so many others.
Try using gel or wax to style it in different ways. Slick it back or part it, for example. Take a look at '70s films for inspiration. I say hang in there.
My mother's solution to any hair problem is a haircut. She hasn't had long hair since she was about 20. She says she likes my hair now that it's grown out, but everytime she saw me with my awkward-stage hair she'd ask me to cut it.
You could get the sides and back trimmed a little, but doing so drastically delays your ability to ponytail your hair. I know from experience.
Okay, Ive pretty much decided that I don't want to cut it short, but what about getting it thinned/styled?
