Hi,
first time poster, long time lurker.
My hair is currently just past my shoulders and I would like to grow it to my lowerback (or to my butt).
Lately, I've been thinking to get my ears pierced. I think it will look nice with the long hair.
Anyone else here with long hair who has earrings or is thinking about getting them and how many do you have?
I think, eventually I want at least 2 holes in each ear (maybe 3)
I've been wanting to get my ears pierced for a while, but haven't done it yet, and get some big diamond stud earrings or silver rings with the little ball at each end.
Anyhow, you should go for it. Sure it will look nice with your hair, and a complimentary addition to your 'look'.
If you don't like them, you just take them out!
Good luck!
I have my left ear lobe pierced which currently has a silver sterling sleeper(8 or 10 mm i think).
Long hair and earrings look very cool.
I want to get a cross earring in the future.
My earring is very subtle and it isn't very noticeable because my hair hides most of it, unless i ponytail i tuck my hair behind my ears. I do have to remove it for work, however.
I've had one piercing in each ear for several years. For the first couple of years growing out I didn't think they looked right so I didn't wear them, but now that my hair's past the shoulders I like them quite a bit.
Just noticed we have another Jeremy B. on the board (see the post below). I think I'm ready for a new handle anyway. Gotta start thinking about it...
Yes I noticed that to earlier today start you brain thinking Jeremy hehehe
Hi Patrick,
Long hair and earrings go extremely well together, I think. You may also want to try bigger earrings, especially if you wear long hair down - they are supposed to be visible, aren't they? Another option you'd have is to widen the holes so you can wear quite a variety of "piercing-style" jewelry, eg. tunnels, etc. If you don't overdo it (i.e. not much more than 1 cm), the holes still would shrink below visibility if you decide to take the jewelry out again.
Post a picture whenever it feels right to do so...
Best wishes, and happy growth!

Hi
Patrick
I also have earrings to but i have them all in my left Ear as Ive never really been bothered about getting my right pierced, I have two in my earlobe ones a hugged sleeper with diamonds in the other is a dome stud round on top flat underneath as for the other piercing thats on the top of my left ear and that a sleeper theses are all 9ct gold cant wear anything else as it seems to upset my ear so id be careful as some people are different with earrings regarding being aligic to them, as with my hair you cant see none of my earrings if my hair is hanging down !

I had my first piercing, the left ear cartilage, about 3 months ago. I love it. I even feel the urge to get more.... lol
It goes great with long hair. My curly hair covers it for ow,but when I straighten it and put it behind my ears it shows. Also when I feel it's long enough for a ponytail I'll be able to show it off more often.
By all means get it. You'll love it!
My hair story
Both of my ears are pierced in multiple places. I have a total of 7. They do go well with long hair.

Hey Absalom is that the most recent foto?
what happened to your Saruman beard...i loved that it looked really good on you i thought
That is an older photo. My hair is longer now, but my beard is shorter.
Absalom
glad to hear your hair is longer but sad to hear your beard is shorter.
are you going to grow the beard back long again?
I do think the long hair and long beard looks good on you
I think so, as long as there is an easy way I can keep it free from tangles. My beard hair is nappy and prone to tangling. Any suggestions on how to keep a nappy beard with hairs 12 inches plus from tangling would be greatly appreciated. I would prefer low maintenance solutions. I trimmed back when it reached 12 inches. It is currently about 4 inches.
Absalom

here is the type of comb that I use
to comb my beard. my beard also likes to tangle
as it is curly and getting bigger too.
Maybe I should consider one of those.
You know I shaved my beard off, but I can't help it, it's coming back by itself :)
To stay on topic I have long hair, beard and currently two earrings in my left ear. I used to have a piercing in my right, but the jewelry I used was made of some weird metal that made the hole majorly infected. Very nasty stuff. That hole shut itself down.
This is how it looked before it got bad:
I'n down to "only" 19 ear piercings, but I had 30 earrings not too long ago. Both ears were pierced all the way around:)
I only have 7, and I don't plan on getting any more.

That's a lot man... A friend of mine just went from 21 to 23 piercings. He got them made just after I saw him last time, so I don't even know how they look :)
I have both my ears peirced, but for a long time i have not worn any earings on them...what i plan to do is get those thicker earings on my ears, the ones that require thicker holes. I just like to do what less people try :).
I would get three in each ear. two in the lobes of each ear( a loop on the bottom with a stud earing above it on each ear) and a loop in each cartilage on the ear tops of each ear. They look good and I am sure you would also.

Having an earring is very pesonal thing.
In fact I would highly reccomend trying out some 'clip-ons' to see how the look suits you, before drilling a whole in your ear.
As this picture hopefully shows though, an earring-subtle is better in my opinion-can really compliment longer hair.
I got both ears pierced shortly after I started growing my hair out about 5 years ago. I wear mostly hoops, 1/2"to 1" if I have my hair in a tail, bigger ones if I have my hair down. Occasionally studs or dangle earrings too. I think they go pefextly with long hair!
When I was 21 a friend pierced my left ear; but I didn't like the way it looked on me, and eventually took it out. Years later... another friend recommended I pierce one of my ears, saying she thought an earring would look great on me, especially with my long hair. I told her my story of when I was 21, with which she said, "Well, maybe you chose the wrong ear", --- and then went on to explain how most of our faces are a little asymetrical, rather than literally equal on both sides of our head. I pierced my right ear for my 40th birthday, and have been happy with it ever since! Funny how one side of my head displeased me to see an earring; but the other made me happy as a clam.

Thanks for all the replies, guys.
I can (proudly) say that I took the step: yesterday I pierced my ears. I did it myself with a needle. And a few hours later I added a second one in my left ear. I now wear little shiny, diamond-like studs. I consider putting a third one in my left ear later today.
I think my girlfriend (she hasn't seen me yet) is going to freak out. She has no idea that I wanted to wear earrings and now all of sudden I'm gonna show up with 4.
