Hi saw this site and decided to post my hair photo .I have been growing my hair since last 10 years .Now they reach upto my knee and i am quite satsified with overall look and length of my hair except at the end they are little rough and need some treatment or trim .
If any body can suggest me what should I do to make my end look better
Thanks Ashwin

Hi Ashwin, welcome. Mine grows unevenly too. Take a good look and you will see it is maybe 2 inches longer on the right. I have decided to let mine grow, despite this.
If you find the uneveness unbearable, you would only need to trim a maximum of 1 inch to even it up. (I think your hair looks great just the way it is.)
Long hair forever.

Thanks Absalom for your advise .I will trim a bit but what should be done to avoide such problem again .I have heard that dipping ends in the hair oil can prevent rough ends but haven't tried keeping hair ends for long time in the oil .
Even loose hair is exposed to sun and dirt and tend to become rough at the ends .At work I wear my hair tied in a turban but many tmes when go out with wife i kep them loose .Tried buns and braids but look feminine .Can you suggest some nice hair style for me ,
Your hair length also looks very great what hair styles you normally do ,
Ashwin.

Hi Ashwin, if your hair feels rough you may have split ends. It may be time to do a search and destroy mission to remove them. Do this while relaxing in your favourite chair. For me, a magnifying glass is helpful. When I find them, I trim off just the split part. Most split ends only require trimming 5 millimeters off the tip. Jojoba oil will likely be helpful, I use it.
As for a different and protective hair style, try multiple hair ties. For me, this protects my hair very well, greatly reduces tangling, and does not look feminine at all.(See photo)
WOW!! What an inspiration!!!
Mine is just now beginning to touch the top of my belt, so I have a long way to go to reach yours (if indeed mine will grow that long)...
If you do decide to trim the ends (i trim mine, because I get a lot of split, broken, & damaged ends), ask around to see if you can find a hair stylist who specializes in long hair. I have a woman friend who recommended a guy who has a following in my city for being very good with long hair, --- will ONLY trim off *exactly* the amount I give him permission to cut, and no more. In other words, don't just go to "anybody", --- and it's worth paying the extra $$ to go to someone with an established reputation.
Take care, --- and WELCOME!

Great, thick, full hair!
I assume you've gotten trims over the past ten years. A trim on the ends would make it look fantastic and even more full.
I prefer my hair ends neatly trimmed.
Trim the ends, taking no more than an inch off. You hair is long enough that you can easily trim it yourself.

Thanks for your advice .Saw your website you too have nice below butt length hair .Photos on your site are old what is your current hair length must be longer than photos on your website .
I am many times mistaken as a woman from behind , must be happening with you too due to your hair length .How do you tackle the situation , Any tips for me
Ashwin .
My photo with bun
I'm currently about a year away from knee-length.
Being mistaken for a woman just happens. People feel very embarrassed. We usually just laugh about it.

Hi ED , How long your hair grows in a year ? can you post your latest photo on the board , Ashwin
Hi Ed , How long your hair grows in a year ? Can you also post your latest photos on the borad , Ashwin
Wow, amazing hair!!
I think it looks great as it is.
If it's a bit rough though, have you tried any treatment at all? What shampoo do you use?
Alot of people here like jojoba oil, I'm going to get some of that myself pretty soon...
Thanks for your appreciation .I had been using sunsilk for quite long but recently have switched to garnier .I normally wash my hair once in a week and leave them open to dry but i think thats the main reason for roughness .I have to be more kind with my hair now and oiling treatment to make them look smooth and silky ,

Ashwin:
You have gorgeous hair. Can you please post some of your photos that include braided ones (Single and Double). Who combs your hair? Is it your wife after you come back from work? Do you leave hair down and braided at home after you come back
Thanks

After work at home I normally wear my hair loose , some times braided as well as just put a butterfly like in this photo .
My wife enjoys brushing my hair and doing a single braid for me .I will post my briaded photo .
Ashwin

Here is my photo in single braid done by myself without anybody's help .Not a good job .What you guys think ,
Ashwin
That braid is incredible, it is nearly as thick as my wrist. In the first photo with your hair loose you looked super tall, like 6'4". Long hair plus a low camera angle gives an illusion of height. I see now you are maybe 5'9" tall, in reality. My calculation is based on low camera angle and knowing a doorway is 6'8" high. Again, you have an incredible braid.
Absalom
hi ,
i am 5.5 .not so tall

One more photo of mine with braid kissing the floor , ashwin
Ashwin:
Your hair is amazing. By the way do you have any website for viewing your photo gallery.
Your braid is very good. Did you get a chance to try two braids at anytime. Just curious
Thanks
Absolutely fantastic hair! Keep it growing!
The length of your hair is most admirable. To be growing for a decade without cutting your hair really gives you results. Your ends appear thick and full, i don't believe that you are approaching terminal length. I believe you have the ability to grow your hair a few inches past the floor, although it may be a bit impractical.
Nice, man!
I wouldn't entertain the idea of giving you advice about how to take care of your hair as you seem to be doing fine...for a long time now.
If you are looking for some more info to browse (there always seems to be something one hasn't seen before) then try some of the links at the top of the board (link page).
Ashwin I have seen your hair picture and the problem you are facing is very common in the indian climatic condition. As a dermatologist I will suggest you to use MINTOP -DS lotion on your scalp every alternate day for a month. Don't oil heavily and wash your hair with mild shampoo (I suggest REJOICE AND APPLY REVLON CONDITIONEFR) atleast twice a week. Also take multi vitamin like ZEVIT two capsules daily for 30 days.and trim off the split end when required. more over I need some more pictures of your hair and the way you brush and keep your hair in the relax time and at your work place. and also let me know the place where you stay so that i can give you some better suggestion. my email is indranilpal2005@yahoo.com.And at the last i will suggest you to wash your hair with clear and iron free water.

Hello Indranil . Thanks for your advice .Many people say that rejoice leads to hair fall and so I use garnier fructis .Earlier i was using sunsilk .How true is this .
Now a days i am applying garnier conditioner .I was once a week .
When leaving for office I wear my hair in braid and bun it on my head and cover them with the turban .At home I open my braid and just leave it loose after brushing them by putting it over my face like a curtain .I brush from top to the ends may be around 100 strokes .Some times I just relax on the sofa with my hair put behind loose or put a hair clip or butter fly to make pony .I stay near the sea .
Ashwin
rejoice is a good shampoo and no problem with it.your problem is with roughness and not hair fall, so rejoice will do. another thing i want to know that are you a sikh? if you are a sikh then i will suggest you to wash your hair in the evening before going to sleep and dry it completely before braiding and go for a bun on your head without brading when you go out.can i know that do you have a larger fore head, or rather a front view of yourself.
