Hey guys, just wanted to post a followup and say hello.
I cant wait until I can finally post some pics and feel truly apart of this community.
My last trim was almost four months ago and my last haircut was June last year. I'm so glad I decided to disuade everyones opinions and grow my bangs out. Since my hair is curly the bangs grow in tubes which annoyed my mother who subsequently followed by cutting them whenever I grew my hair out.
I used to straighten just the front to compensate for the layers. Last time I even used a straightener was three months ago.
Anyway I was concerned about one thing however, I'm accustomed to my hair being rather thick but as my bangs start to dry they curl away from the side hair leaving a small gap. At first I thought my hair was receeding and thought I would never have long bangs. Yet I realized my bangs are now going through the awkward phase and by studying others' progress pics was relieved to see a similar pattern.
Also I live in Florida and am very amazed to see the number of longhairs. At work I've noticed many tails young and old. Its very odd seeing many middle-aged women with very short hair and white tails on older men. One longhair's daughter asked me if I was a boy or girl which caught me by surprise. But his comment was astounding saying to his daughter that she was stereotyping and that like her dad I had long hair. =) His tail was almost waist length btw.
I've also experimented by seeing how many times people mistake my gender because of my hair depending whether I wear it loose or in a tail! It seems people will choose jaded judgment rather than rely on reason.
One conclusion seems valid however that I have yet to meet a mean hearted longhair.
God how I detest commericialism and yet I work in retail...=P
