Hello all, it's been a while since I've posted, so I don't know how many of you will remember me. I was rather active a couple of years ago, but within the last year or so have been online much less. A couple of reasons for this are: 1, I'm working full time (55 hours a week), saving up money to get back on the road with the renaissance festivals. 2, I've bought and am converting an old school bus to a motorhome, which takes up the vast majority of my free time now.
But anyways, I thought I'd drop in and leave a couple of photos showing the progress on my dreadlocks. It's been about 3.5 years since I've cut, and about 1.5 years since I stopped combing/detangling/conditioning.
Be well!

Ok, so I have to show off the work in the bus. . .It takes a lot to get me excited, but I tell you, this is getting me excited. This is the wall/shelves that seperate the living room from the bedroom.
This is how I keep my hair up out of my face. and yes, that is TOBACCO in the hookah ;)
This photo shows about how my hair lays normally, when not in a ponytail. I'm glad that it's finally getting long enough to not just hang around my head, but to actually fall down to my shoulders and lower.
A shot showing how long my dreads are in the back. . . not exactly though, as like when my hair was curly, it still kind of coils up a bit and doesn't hang to its full length.
Hello,
Good to see that you are all still alive and your hair is getting longer!
What a challenging, time consuming, yet very rewarding project of turning an old school bus into a mobile home.
I really like the idea and it is going to be very nice once you have finished everything. You definately save alot of money by doing it all yourself.
The dreads look great, i believe you will have them for life, it is just part of your identity now.
Nice Hookah, water pipe, Argille, whatever you call them. These ancient ways of smoking tobacco originated in the Middle East. My dad has about 4 of them which he smokes occasionally.
They are great for social settings such as playing cards with friends or after a hard day of work etc. I don't smoke it though, lol. When he went to Lebanon he brought back a very good one. Made of metal/chrome and very well built so is air tight and provides better suction. They are also not as dangerous as ciggaretes and alot cheaper to buy the tobacco for it , as the goverment doesn't hammer the excise on them.
Good luck with your project and i can't wait to see some future progress photos of not only your hair, but also the bus conversion!
nice dreads and looks like you are going to have a nice
hippie bus too
....The Ball Guy !!
You are having so much fun with your life.......
Go for it !! Lookin' Good !!
Walter White Tail
wicked motorhome idea man.........i got a few questions about dreads!!!!
how long where your dreads when you started?
what length does your hair have to be for them? can you start with long hair? only im considering getting dreads after ive grown long hair and i dont wanta have to cut it off short again!!!!!!!!!
oh yea and what do dreads feel like?..they look like theyd feel all sandpapery
About this long :)
Yes, you can start with long hair. The way I went about it was the neglect method. I just stopped conditioning and detangling my hair, and just washed it with soap/shampoo. Then tangles that form will just pile up on each other and form dreadlocks.
Mmmm, not really sandpapery. . . .kind of like a very fine, soft loofa sponge.
thanks for the help!!!
Good to hear from you TBG!
The school bus motor home project looks like fun.
The dreads are looking as great as ever, too.
Thanks for updating us,
- Oren
Dude, it's great to see you back here. I wouldn't forget ya ;) and nice dreads and bus :)
The Long Hair Lair
How could anyone forget you here?
Your hair is looking great, I have always liked dreadlocks.
That bus is going to be supergroovycool when you get thru with it. I saw a program the other night on TV about that same kind of thing, but I think a lot of the people in the show lived in them all the time.
What renaissance festivals are you going to be working at?
That's actually what I'm planning on :D Within a year (hopefully) I will no longer have a permanent address *woot*
Arizona, TRF, either Scarborough or Georgia and possibly NY.
KickASS. I love dreads, and yours look sweeeet. Admittedly, the loose pic still looks kinda thick around your head, but with some more length that'll go away. Just look at P.O.D's lead singer, whose name escapes me, or Damian Marley. Their dreads are waist/butt-length respectively and the added weight really de-volumizes the area around the head.
Also, it seems some of your back locks still havent dreaded fully... They kinda curl at the end.
Other than that, great work. They suit you very well and give you a laidback construction worker look, fairly similar to a lot of Rastafarians where I live. Definite improvement over the normal curly hair, at least IMO.
Keep up the great work, dude.
Yeah, I've got crazy-thick hair, so it's always been the "poofy cloud" hairstyle for me.
That's just where there's not enough length for them to knot/tangle. I didn't "put" dreads in, I let them form on their own, and so far very few of them have gotten all the way to the very tips.
thanks for the kind words, man!
Hey man! Long time no see!
We've missed you here, so it's great to see an update.
Your dreadlocks have really gotten sweet now, I especially like pic number 2 where they're hanging loose. I guess the neglect method is the way to go, as mine, which were put in, didn't look half as good as yours!
Cool about the bus as well, that'll be nice being able to go wherever you feel like without having to worry about your home :)
Oh yeah, is that tattoes you've got on your arms, or something else?
Those are tattoos. It's the weird scr ipt on my homepage. . .it says "Had I not known that I was already dead, I would have mourned the loss of my life"
