hey wats up every1....
sorry i havent been online in a couple of weeks, its just that I gave in2 pressure from parents and got my hair "thinned out" to try and make them a bit happy (cuz i am going for a job interview sometime soon [this week or next]) and they said i won't get a job if i look "scruffy"!
Anyways i went 2 the barber and asked him 2 thin it out.... not 2 cut any of the length (except the fringe, which i gave him permission to cut shorter) Now that i have thinned out my hair it has gotten much much curlier.... i mean i never thought i cud have so much curls at the back!! I wish i hadnt have done it as it seems i am right back in the middle of the awkward stage! i'll let u guys judge for urself's ^^^^^ the picture above i just took a half hour ago.....
how far am i away from my goal length???! (shoulder length hair) how many months do u think it will take me 2 get back on track??!
The advice 2 newbie hair growers: never give in and get it thinned out or even a trim cuz it brings u back months!!!
i better stop rambling.... let me know wat u think of my current stage if ya can......
Thanx

Hi Salidbar,
sorry to see that your parents have been pestering you with some success - I know, it's difficult to resist if you have to live with them...
How far you are away from your goal? I'd say about a year and a half for a comfortable pony tail that would include your bangs, and less if you don't want to include your fringe/bangs in it. Many people your age have similar setbacks - it's really part of being vulnerable to parental pressure - so don't be too hard on yourself.
From now on, you can always practice resistance, e.g. leaving the room when they pester you again...
One more thing - make sure you leave a post and read the follow-ups the next time things get rough - even if you have to go out to some internet cafe.
By the way, you still look the cool guy you are, but I agree with you, the longer, the better, as far as hair is concerned.
Perhaps a bit of Bob Marley is the right thing for you? ("Get up, stand up for your rights, don't give up the fight")
Best wishes,
Hans-Uwe
Sorry to hear about you giving into your parent's pressure.
The trim looks ok to me and it doesn't look curly.
This is a small set back but i am confident you will still be able to grow your hair to shoulder length, your goal.
I am a bit concerned about the trimming of the bangs. Your bangs were getting long and were not far from tucking behind your ears, now that they are shorter the awkward stage will be extended. That is unless you want a style with short bangs and decide to keep them at the current length.
My parents and my sister were pressuring me to get my hair trimmed. Once my sister chased me around the house with a pair of scissors and i just ran away from her and locked the door.
Good luck.
That's terrible Jean!
I thought your family was supportive of your hair!
(That's ties with my other worst nightmare, of having my hair cut while sleeping-'Dean shudders')
If somebody were to cut my hair off while I was sleeping, I might just figure it was fair game to cut off something of theirs when they were sleeping.... And I'm not into cutting hair....
Jim (whose nasty, vengeful streak is rearing it's ugly head)
They are supportive, yes indeed. It is just that they want me to grow my hair THEIR WAY! That it , layered and trimmed and with lots of moose appication! My sis was like "Im gonna give you layers so your hair looks good". I'm like "no damn way!".
It is just a conflict of interest. Since my hair has gotten longer and weighted itself down more the layering comments have toned down a bit, which is good news.
Awwww Dont beat yourself up to much still looks great on you and you will get there
Take Care
Axel
Hey man, I did the same exact thing and couldn't have been happier. I had my hair thinned, my bangs trimmed a little, and now my hair is the same length, but it isn't nearly as curly, its easier to style, my bangs aren't in my eyes, and I got a job.
