just curious. mine was a little less than 1/4 of a centimeter
Mine was about one inch...
About 3 inches, at the time I would have normally gotten a hair cut. I decided it's about time to let it grow, after several failed attempts previously (mostly due to job searches, which is taken care of now (long hair is acceptable in academia!)).
I started from a military crew cut....
wow, that's short dude. I used to alternate between a buzzcut and a short back and sides, 1 inch spiked top look.
If i could have been able to grow my hair in school i would probably have butt length by now.
a little less than 1/4 of an inch
Well, I first "decided" I wanted to grow it long back about 3rd Grade, which was at a time it was already covering my ears I think. Since then its gone back and forth a few times (in 6th Grade it was halfway down my back but sadly I got it cut for 7th). It hasn't ever been very much shorter than shoulder length since then.
Eyebrow level. Maybe that's why it seems to have gotten longer faster.
I think mine was about 1 to 2 inches on top and back a little shorter on the sides.

Hello,
In 1977 I started to let it grow after my last barbershop haircut on December 24, which was just trimming off one half inch. On August 26, 1979 it got way past the shoulders.
I am including a high school picture from my 1977 year book, I am the one in the back with the longest hair, holding my first scientific calculator in my hands. This was the math club, where the teacher, M. D. Zweig, on the right, despite being near retirement, he never had a "conservative" attitude about my hair. At home my mom was hassling me about my hair, and making threats, and my concentration in class was going down to the point of flunking my math midterm, because much I was preocuppied with being forced to lose my hair in the name of conformity.
I am grateful to M. Zweig for taking time for sorting out things with me, and telling me that I am very bright, and a unique individual who refuses to conform, and not to worry about fashions. (He also noticed that I kept my hair clean and neat, and I always had a positive attitude).
Have a nice day,
Georges in Montreal.
Georges,
You Rock my man. I love all the cool old pictues you post. Keep posting those esoteric pics from the 70's.

Great photo. Your math class really did have all the bright students. Some of the guys had nice middle length hair and side parts, which was obviously common in those days. There are alot of Asian students in that class, was this in Montreal?
I do know that here, in Australia, the 1970s was predominately white, anglo, British and Australian citizens. These days it is very Multiculturalism, but gosh times have changed in the past 30 years or so.
This was Montreal, and the Asians were the A students, good in maths, and physics as well but were not the majority. In my high school, the majority was Greek, then Asian (Vietnamese and Chinese), and the minority were Italians, French, and lastly English Canadians.
I buzzed it all off by Aug 2005 and started growing since then. It is almost chin length now at the 9 month mark.
Cheers!

wow your hair grows fast like my brother and sisters! in 1 month it looks like it's been growing for 2 months or longer lol i'm the only one who has normal growing hair =/ lol
Thanks, it grows fast allright. But my hair is really dry and curly which makes it hard to maintain and the length doesnt show at all. :(
my hair is dry and curly like the ethiopians in this picture
sometimes i use aloe very gel to to keep my hair from getting too dry and tangly. but my hair is very soft and somewhat heavy
Wow really, and it is soft? I always had the misconception that ethiopian and african hair types are really really hard to maintain and grow. Well, i am just ignorant i guess.
Thanks
it's really not uncommon to find someone with my type of type (dry tight curls but soft and tamable =/ lol). east africans often have this type. but it's not unusual to find someone in east africa who has looser curls or even straight hair (and many times their hair is also dry even if it is straighter lol) curly hair is the most common hair type though.

I have never had hair that short!
About 4 inches I think. Pretty long but any shorter looks really weird on me.
I usually had the 'Tim Henman' look
i.e short back and sides, with it quite 'boofy' and comparitively long-23 inches-sticking up on top (naturally though, no gel etc)
Once I started getting bombarded with the Jason Biggs comparison...thatw as the final straw!
Bit much to stick up, methinks. :P
Don't get 'cute'.
TWO to THREE inches.
Kids these days!
Im like whaaa? 23 inches on top? 2-3, ah yes, thats more like it. I had that stylem but a bit shorter.
My head was pretty much buzzed, like it had always been. On second thought, maybe about a quarter-inch at most. It was the look my mom insisted to have for me, despite how boring I thought it was and I'd always wanted to feel a thick head of hair up there so around 14, I got into my rebellious teenager mode :) It's still growing now
Mine was the exceedingly boring and unremarkable length of not being considered long or short. Hair cut above the ears and a side part where the bangs didnt quite cover the eyebrows, ho hum :)
Fairly typical military haircut, #4 on top, #2 on the sides, 1/4 inch "whitewalls" around the ears.

Short, very short.
In effect, too short for my comfort. I had made the decision to grow out in 2000 since I did not like how I looked with short hair. In the Spring of 2002, it was long enough to where I needed to tie it back in order to keep it from tangling while I was sleeping in bed.
Now, I'm working on my career in the film industry. Here's hoping that IMDB.COM will list "long hair" as my trademark. - Reinhart

I had totaly shaved my head because I was in that dreaded awkward stage and couldnt take it any more then I got sunburnt and couldn't take that either LOL that was back in 2003 (see photo) then in june of 2005 I had to get it cut for a court apperance (don't worry it was no biggie I just had to prove that I was paying child support and of course I was) I just wanted to look respectful in front of the judge. Now I am just going to let it grow untill I am content with it's length (about 22 months to go)
Peace
Bruce
I think my last major haircut was to an inch long, that was my standard at the time. Although, going back, I had my hair as short a 1/4 of an inch for a while!
The progression of my hair is quite interesting, especially in color. I used to be blonde - really, BLONDE - but now my hair's a boring brown.
