Hi!
This is my first post at the forum, although I've been looking at other posts for a few weeks. I stumbled upon this site completely by accident, and it's a really great feeling to know there is such a welcoming and persistent community of long-hairs on the Internet. I saw some of you on pics, and you guys kick ass XD
Anyway, my hair has grown quite a bit over the last few months, I think it's 15-20 cm in size now, and I've been growing it for the last six months. I've read through the long-hair FAQ, and through most of the posts... but I'm a bit confused regarding some stuff while washing the hair. Here are some questions I'm confused about...
1.How often should I comb my hair, if at all needed? And when should I exactly comb it... before or after the hair wash?
2.Which shampoo to use? (which one do you use and which ones shouldn't I use under any circumstance)
3.Should I use mostly the towel or should I dry my hair after the wash? Somewhere I read the towel could put on extra weight for the root, so it wouldn't be too good for the hair, and somewhere I read the hair-dryer could cause damage to the hair.
If some of you find the time to post the entire process of how you wash the hair, I would appreciate it... I wouldn't want to do something wrong.
Thanks in advance :)
Welcome to the board! I joined not too long ago myself
1) Depends on your hair type. If it's wavy and stubborn like mine, then I'd comb it often cuz it tends to get a mind of its own and go crazy in certain areas. I comb mine after my shower so it will dry in the style that I want. If it tangles a lot, then be careful with the combing cuz wet hair is more fragile and you don't wanna be ripping through it
2) I use Suave which is a good all-around shampoo, and dandruff shampoo is supposed to be strong and somewhat damaging
3) I think towel-drying your hair is fine. I blow-dry every now and then when it gets unmanageable, but I think long-term use of this can cause frizz and dry ends
1) I only comb my hair when wet. That is to deep condition my hair and get out tangles, knots etc. I have curly hair though.
I always finger comb prior to using a comb.
2) Any brand you like. I get good results with Sunsilk for wavy/curly hair. I use it 1-2 times per week to remove buildup and grease and clean my hair.
3)I towel dry my hair by tilting it to either side and just patting it gently with the towel, letting the water drip off. This way my hair doesn't get flat and ruin the curls shape.
Then i simply let my hair air dry.
