So I have this friend who is from India. Last quarter (we're both in college, same math classes) we both noticed that the other is growing his hair long. Mine was longer by like 2 inches, but whatever. We both wanted it shoulder length, so it was cool. Today I see him and I almost cried when I saw that his hair was a mere inch at most. He said his parents are coming over tomorrow or something (from India = strict), but I couldn't help but say "You PANZY!!"
I guess I have to go it alone now. :-(
He looked like a frickin' porcupine, though. =/
hehe i've never known Indian guys to let their hair grow long. Amerindian guys...now that's another story. but anyway Indian hair is supposed to be thinner than Caucasoid hair but stronger than Asian hair and it often stands up for the first few months even if it's straight =/ so maybe that's why he looked like a porcupine. but i'm sorry to hear your friend cut his hair
OTOH, I've never known Indians who cut their hair so short it stuck up either. I doubt if the strict relatives would like that much better than long hair. They tend to think like English people used to when I was younger, i.e. ultra-short hair = convict look, LOL! (I still tend to think that!)
oh? alot of Indian guys here cut their hair until it's like less than a centimeter lol some of them wear it 2 inches long but alot of them leave their hair short here =/ lol
Hi there!
I'm Indian (American), and in the middle of the awkward stage, growing my hair out. Indeed I'm visiting India for a month (just graduated college, taking some time off), and I'm kind of interested in what to expect there. None of my current family/friends are particularily opposed to me growing my hair out (my mother is even excited about it), but I have to wonder what my extended family will think.
I do know several Indians here on campus who have long hair, and it looks pretty neat (which is why I am trying it). Also there are Sikhs, who never cut their hair, as to their religion; though I suppose this is different from me (Hindu by label, though I do not follow).
Yeah, it would have looked good on him, too.
It's funny. Today I met him in class and he says he regrets cutting it. When it was longer (beginnings of awkward stage, maybe a bit longer), he could shake his head and feel his hair go side to side, and he says that was relaxing. :-)
