So, I'm a senior in high school, and the year is coming to an end. Besides the ridiculous things I had to do to my hair this year (that's another post) I have had to shave for the past 3 years.
Interestingly enough, at the beginning of Junior year, I had a 2-inch goatee (granted, it was very thin). I had never shaved before, and noone had said anything, but I figured I should shave before I got in trouble. Over the years, my facial hair (especially goatee area) has gotten MUCH thicker, so I want to grow it out again. I miss that goatee.
And, next Friday, is the last class day of school. I have a week or so of etsts, graduation, prom, and then a month off before I go back for one day to get my report card. So, the way I figure it, I have between 1 and 3 shaves left before I can finally let it grow.
Which brings up the question - what should I do to take care of it? Follow the same routine as my hair (wash every 2-3 days, condition), or should I do anything special or different? I look forward to growing my goatee for quite a while.
Your hair looks good, and the beard is to follow,.
Why change anything - it is all just right.
When I grew a goatee last fall, all I did was wash it with mild soap and water, and add some moisturizer afterwards sometimes. Of course, mine was about 1/4-1/2 an inch long, so with hair that short, it's probably strong enough to withstand just about anything.
I wouldn't condition it unless you notice it being exceedingly dry, lest your skin feel too oily (I can't stand the way that feels, even though it isn't half as bad as having skin that's too dry).
I reckon you would look KOOL with a beard or a goatee!
Definately grow one , by all means, and do post some pics in the future to show us.
You should deep condition the beard once a week, trim for split ends, and apply jojoba to the ends of the beard hair to keep them healthy. hahahah, only kiddin' with ya'.
I don't understand your systems where you can't have a beard in school... ah well.
I don't really do anything to my beard. I sometimes apply some shampoo if I take too much from the bottle, but otherwise I just let it soak when I shower... It seems to be quite ok, I haven't noticed any problems with it. My beard practically never tangles like my hair would so I figure it's best to just leave it alone.
Alright, thanks for the suggestions! I don't worry about my skin being too oily, I have eczema - very dry skin. I have to use lotion quite often.
And I'll be sure to update with pics, when I can borrow a camera.
I pretty much give my beard the same routine as my hair, except that I wash my beard more often - about every other day.
Have a nice graduation!
