Hey there fellows =)
Today is my 20 months mark with no haircuts... and I'm loving it =) I'm just so happy =) I have to say that the scalp problem that I've been going trough disapear when I look at my hair lenght... They are really anoing but I can pay this price for having long hair... I just can't express how I am in love with my locks =) I feel realy completed with my hair long, I feel more part of the mother nature... and this is one of the reasons why this month's pictures are taken in a garden =) Too bad the surroundings of the garden are the city but oh well... this was the best I could get... About my hair, I am aproaching braid lenght =) I have been practicing, maybe I'll post a picture of a self braid some of these days =) Also, I have been wearing my hair tied most of the time, since it's geting hotter here in Portugal and it's also more practical... Another reason is because a friend told me it grows faster this way (she's also growing her hair), and despite I don't believe in this theory, I at least feel that I am contributing to speed the thing up lol =P About my scalp problem, it seems that it's herritage from my fater, that also used to have wounds on his scalp... but my father's hair is oily and mine's dry, so that's pretty strange... oh well... My hairdresser told my mother that I should blow dry my hair more, because she thinks this can also be a cause of excessive humidity... a thing is certain, my mom blow dried it for me last time I washed it and the result was great... oh what to do what to do?... Well, here are the pictures =) I hope you like them, they are my fav progress pictures ever =)

I hope everything goes as well as it's been going with my hair journey... I've come a long way but I still have a long way to go... And I hope to share everything with you guys... Hey Joao David, your hair looks great. You have good length for only 20 months. Don't let a minor scalp problem keep you from growing your hair out. You would likely have the scalp problem regardless of your hair length.

Lol! Actually, that's something I've been thinking about... but you know, when you become a model, people start trying to manipulate your image, and that's something that can't be... I prefer to be a model for myself =) Even tough that is something I'm still thinking about, even if just for earning some money lol... About the salfty water, my scalp and hair have been reacting really bad this year =( because of my scalp problems it gets more itchy when I wet my hair, and my strands get really dry, as well as the ends, that get even drier... Oh well... I'm just planing to leave my conditioner on for 15 minutes or so everytime I wash my hair from the beach... Hope it is a good idea =P Thank's for the very nice comments =)

Well, actually my sister is growing it even longer, untill butt lenght... I'm going for that lenght as well =) It's going to be a blast to walk on the street with my sister and have the same lenght of so diferent hair types =) Thank's for your kind words =)

Well, well, well. WELL. We've come a long way, haven't we? :) To be honest, this is how I always pictured you with longer hair, especially when you were talking about it brushing your shoulders. Well, it's doing more than brushing now, huh? :P
I like the ponytail. As for your friend's theory, it's not something she made up, or at least not herself - my aunt, a hairdresser, told me the same thing once. She believes that by pulling the hair into the ponytail, you tug more hair out of the roots. I don't know about you, but this seems rather violent and abusive to me.:P lol. Wear your ponytail, it looks beautiful - and tell us if my aunt, and your friend, has a good theory on their hands.
And your little sister, wow. She IS a little princess. I'm really touched to see someone's little sibling not only interacting with her brother, but doing so lovingly, as a friend - it's priceless, what you have with your sister. She's like a little princess, and you're her guardian angel. A touching sight, especially the last photo.
Now about blow-dryers...I suggest you stay away from them. You say your hair felt better after doing it, but still... Blow-drying IS supposed to be super-damaging, after all. I'd say to just keep taking normal care of your hair and avoid all high heat if you can. I'd avoid a trim, too.
Other than that, EXCELLENT job so far. I wouldn't jump off a cliff, as Justin said - I'd go to the next galaxy for your progress! Keep it up, buddy.

Hi fallen angels! hank's for the kind comments =) As for the blow drier, I think I will do it a couple of times more and then leave it, just to make my mother happy... Either ways, I'll do it for two or three weeks more and only once each week... and as I've been using a deep treatment mask it won't be that damaging... tough I know blow drier is very bad for hair... As for the ponytail, we'll see then... it really sounds violent as you said but either ways it protects your hair from being always going from side to side and from tangling... even tough a long side hanging braid would feel a lot more comfortable and protective... I'll get there =)

Thank's for your nice words, it's always good to read this little things that make our day (and you know it ;) ) About my sclap problems, I'm still having them, but oh well... I don't think I'll get out of this bald so no way I'm gonna get frustrated over it... If it has to be, than be it... I'll have my hair anyway =) And about that pantene comercial thing, maybe it is because I used to wash my hair with pantene for a long time lol... That coments didn't made my day... it made my week!! Thank you =) About your hair, you have to be twice as patient... but I'm sure your hair will also look like a curly hair from a pantene comercial in no time... Just wait and see =)
It's incredible how different you look as your hair gets longer and longer. The next 12-months are really going to be exciting as it grows toward the top of your stomach and past your shoulder blades.
It will be amazing to see you in two and three years and beyond as your keeps getting longer...you're going to break a lot of hearts ;)

I'm feeling full of joy for myself, I never felt so independent from what other people say... I feel really free... There really is a lot of joy in realizing that you're becoming the person you really are, and not the person other people want you to be. I know exactly what you mean.
My long hair is just part of the image I have for myself...my 1¾" stretched earlobes and my tattoos also define who I am. I work for AT&T, and I'm fortunate enough to be in a job where my hair, piercings, and ink don't matter.
My "final" vision for the way I want to look includes much longer hair, HUGE earlobes, a long goatee, lots of ink, and a lot more body piercings. Mmmm... how did it took you three years to achieve this lenght? Sre you a slow grower or did you did it with trims? I'm a bit of a slow grower, plus I started off (again) at a bit of an older age than you are at the moment. Here's what I looked like about 3 years after my "mistake" committed at the behest of an ex-girlfriend:

See above. :-) That picture was taken in mid 1989 -- almost 17 years ago. I have terminal-length hair now, and that's the way it's going to stay, even though I'm now thinning a bit on top. :-)
Very nice hair! both you and your sister have incredible hair. I can't wait until i see how yours will look at midback and longer...im sure you can't either.

Been lurking here for quite some time now. I'm loving all the long hair and progress pics and stories from everyone. Long haired guys have always caught my eye, and there's nothing more beautiful than a thick head of hair!
I've always wanted long hair, and have gotten to the point where my hair got to about 5" long all over. I liked it long, and could never stand the awkward stage, and always end up getting it cut. My own hair is naturally curly, with a mind of its own, and everyone here knows what the curly-haired go through, especially during the awkward stage. For a while, I would gel it to the max while it was damp, and when dry, would comb it out and it would be straight until the next washing (or rain, or high humidity conditions).
I'll attempt to upload a pic or two from when it was longer, but no guarantees of success (I'm VERY low-tech)
Meanwhile, I wanted to say 'hi' to everyone, and on this particular occasion, to congratulate Joao on his beautiful mane! (and his gorgeous eyes) Keep it growing!

Hello Noah... Thank's for typing =) You know, my hair is not as straight as it looks in the pictures, I had blowdried it some days ago... Tough it's not too wavy as well... Well, to be honest, my hair varies like a truly wavy hair... somedays it's really wavy, some days it's really straight... oh well =P I still love it that way =D Thank's for your nice coment =)
