I really like these curls alot, something to aspire towards. I am puzzled as to how he gets that wet look which really enhances and defines the curls. Those curls are super healthy, i wish mine were that hydrated. Any ideas FA?
Probably a coconut oil or some gel perhaps. I have still yet to buy some coconut oil. They don't sell it in the pharmacy, Haven't been in any health/beauty stores yet and its waaay to expensive on ebay(called 1 supplier with a huge monopoly on the commodity charging big $$$).
looks dyed to me
No, not really, some people just have dark black hair. My hair is kind of a medium-darkish brown, depending on the lighting and whether it is wet(darker) or dry(lighter).
I don't think it is dyed.

I'll throw in a photo of Slash. One of my curly haired inspirations. He is one of the few 80s rockstars who didn't have bangs, he just let the curls hang in his face, or under his trademark hat. Hopefully by the 3 yr mark my hair will be as long as his.
He's 1 of the coolest dudes in the world..! 80's u shud get one of them hats for when ur playin your gigs lol..
My HomepageHaha Agrees :-)
Coconut oil shouldn't bee too expensive. Last time I purchased some at the local health food store it was less than $10 US for a 10- to 12-ounce jar. Do some shopping around and it shouldn't hurt your wallet too much.
Cheers,
Jeremy
I was at the natural foods shop this morning and checked on coconut oil. $7.49 US for 14 oz.
Hmm. It looks like he's using some kind of leave-in conditioner, and perhaps some oil as well, but definitely some conditioner anyway. If he's not simply leaving in a ton of the stuff he uses in the shower, then he might be using a "melting gel" - a gel that preserves the wet look for quite a while. Helgast tried one once with great results.
About the coconut oil - virtually any oil will give a sheen to your hair, and there are many you can get cheaply at many a drugstore. The oil I occasionally use contains a mixture of tons of oils, like, sesame see, safflower, jojaba, coconut and the like. It's called African something. I'll get back to you on the name, if you're interested.
hmmm, i might get some of that "melting gel" stuff. I believe loreal manufacture it. Next time i am shopping in the supermarket i might get a bottle. Nothing beats the look of wet curls. That African oil you are using sounds great.
If i leave conditioner in my hair i get "plastic curls", hehehe, so that isn't a very good idea for me. I want the curls to have a wet look, yet retain softness and life. Plastic curls = stiff, hard hair with no life or movement. It's like a coating of plaster. Even my natural condition results in "plastic curls".
I will try some melting gel and keep an eye out for cheap coconut oil.
My hair looks horrible when it's wet... I don't see the attraction, I must say :)
By the way, I think the guys hair looks great, but it doesn't look like wet hair to me.
I'm interested if you wouldn't mind. Thank you.
All righty, the company seems to be Africa's Best, so the full name is Africa's Best Ultimate Herbal Oil. It says "with ginseng" below this and comes in a small plastic bottle. The oil itself is a sort of orange-yellow color.
It's apparently all-purpose (well, barring eating it, lol), and contains soy bean oil, walnut oil, olive oil, carrot seed oil, aloe extract and numerous others, including those I mentioned in the previous post. Good stuff.
Just so you know this isn't a pure godsend, this oil has a slight smell to it. Not a BAD one, but a sort of scent; someone once likened to it to incense. *shrugs* Don't use too much of it and you shouldn't notice the scent much, if at all. Using too much will also result in *very* shiny hair (or so my mom says), so again, go easy. There's a moral of moderation in all this, lol.
Let me know if you find it all right.
...looks great!
