is haveing your hair layered a bad thing to do. my hair is slightly layered but i would like it to be layered so that the hair strands are all the same length.
(the natural look when it looks longer on the back and sides)
if you go to a salon and ask them to layer your hair will they do this
would it be better to go to a cheap haircut place or a salon?
I wouldnt get you hair layered if it were me, it tends to give it the feminine hair style look... but if you like it that way go for it.
Layering is not what it's called when all the strands are the same length. A dictionary definition is "To cut (hair) into different, usually overlapping lengths." All the hair from a certain point down is cut to stop in a line at the same level. That's repeated for each overlapping layer. It's kind of like the way shingles overlap on a roof.
Layering can thin out thick hair, and can help in getting certain styles. But if you're going for long hair it's usually not a good idea. It can extend the "awkward phase", and make it take longer before all your hair will stay pushed back behind your ears or stay in a ponytail (if you want to do those things.)
As far as where to go, the most important thing is to find someone to cut your hair who is friendly to long hair on guys, and doesn't think guys only look good with short hair styles. A salon might be better that way, but it really depends on the individual stylist.
The "Natural Look" is really just so easy. All one has to do is just let their hair grow on its own without intervention of any kind. In the end it comes out the best of all. Layering, trims, even-ups in my opinion are a waste. An "artifical fix" so to speak of trying to make the hair look nice as you go through the Awkward Stage. One thing however..........all of these things hamper the time to achieve your goal by a vast amount of wasted time.
There is ONLY one exception. That being of having Split-end troubles. Then you are cornered, but it isn't so bad. ONLY have the hairs with splits singled-out and cut just above the split.
