Not wanting to haunt you all with my progress, but here we are, it keeps me going along with everybody's enthusiasm on this board.
Regards to all.
Coming along really good!
Your hair and facial hair are coming along nicely. I really enjoy seeing progress made by people who come here when their hair is short. That way you really can see the big improvement (in our eyes anyway) as you hang around here :)
Enthusiasm is what we are all about!
Thanks a lot Chris, its a fun way to monitor progress eh? Just think in two years time how cool it will be to look back.
Hi nuttidave,
Nice collection of progress shots.
It is definitely a looooong haul to grow one's hair but the results are worth the effort and time.
Your progress is hard to tell by looking at the photos, it looks like a negligible increase in length. But, your hair will take off on a growth spurt and all of a sudden will start to look longish, in time. I anticipate this will happen around 12 months of growth. Enjoy you pre-awkward phase hair and just let it grow, you won't need to do a thing other than an occasional shampoo and brushing. You live in London, i believe?
What is the attitude of male long hair in the UK?
I believe it is rather rare for men to have long hair and most males have short, conservative styles. Over here in OZ, i see long hair every day, ponytails, braids, etc. Maybe i am just consciously noticing it more but i do believe that long hair on men is alot more liberal and accepted over here. Take care Dave and keep growing. Jean.
Hi Jean
Thanks for your kind words of wisdom.
Long hair on males is fairly well accepted here, there will always be people who judge a book by its cover, but generally its fine. The rock music thang is quite strong at the moment so lots of guys seem to be growing it shoulder length, but because its more of a fashion thing the really long styles (mid back, waist, etc) are unusual to see. But these are the dedicated ones to me.
I am not in London, I am out in the sticks!!
Take it easy dude.
It gests better all the time.
James
Thanks James!
Looking great Dave!!
I see a unique individual taking shape...month by month.

Oren, thats a really nice thing for you to say, because I really do feel the 'real' me, instaed of one of the crowd. Thanks!
Haunt away!
I think your hair has great potential to suit you and to be of good quality and coverage.
Don't look back!
Thanks for the support Deano, its a long road for sure.
Hey, Dave,
It looks like we may have fairly similar hair.
I actually stopped cutting mine short nearly five years ago, but I always got maintenance cuts at about 3-4 months in. Mine was relatively thin on top and I always worried that not taking some of the length off the sides would just make the front look bad by comparison.
My hair always looked long to me in the mirror, but then I'd see a photograph and it would barely be sticking out under the corners after three months.
But I let it go for five months this time and it finally made a difference--enough to cover 3/4 of the ear and reach the end of the collar. Now you can see the difference in pictures. And I also get a lot of double-takes from people I haven't seen in a while, including one friend of 15 years who sat one table over from me in a room of people and took about 15 minutes to figure out it was me.
My goal, BTW, was never to grow a pony-tail. Just to make it a little more interesting and rock 'n' roll looking than it was. After five months, it felt too long and I got it shaped up a little. Three weeks later, though, it feels really long again (for me, anyway).
One thing I did to keep my hair from looking too wispy in front was to slick it back for about an hour in the morning, then comb it forward by hand. That also had the effect of making it look (relatively) longer in front and increasing the appearance of length as well.
thats interesting Cero, thanks for that, luckily i have no thin patches yet.
Take care.
No Worries its coming along great just hang in there and ignore any pleas from anyone telling you to cut it !
