Wow, I just found this board today and am very impressed by the sense of community here. I'm very glad I found it. (even though I haven't gotten a lot of work done today!) I have slightly wavy hair as you can see in the attached picture. I was just wondering if someone who has already achieved longhair status and started out with hair very similar to mine might be able to show me a picture of what I could look forward to.
I have two great-grandmothers that were 1/2 Cherokee Native American. Why oh why couldn't I have gotten long straight black hair! Ah well, I suppose I will make due with the German/Irish that seems to be dominant in my genes. Anyway, thanks in advance!

I'd say grow!
But of course, it is your hair, so feel free to do whatever you please with it.
Thanks!
I figure I'll let it grow to at least past my shoulders anyway before backing out. I've always wanted long hair. It just has always seemedlike it would be... right. I'm just getting anxious and wondering what it will look like--maybe I can live vicariously through someone elses hair that is a similar type to mine. :-)
Yeah!!! Hair just like mine, same color, same thickness and texture (though your's is longer)!!
Your hair looks great for 6 months. I'm actually at 3 months, and it's about half your lengh (we must have the same growth lengh).
I would too be interested in hair twins. Thanks to you ;), I can now easely compare my self to your hair.
Just three words!! Keep it growing ;)!!
Well, now I have no choice! I have to keep it growing! :-) I'll be looking for a pic posted sometime so I can see what my hair looks like on someone else. :-)
Welcome to the board!
You have great length for 6 months. What was your hair length when you stopped cutting?
Trust me the best part about having long hair is not knowing exactly whats going to happen. It is a continuous process, so try and enjoy the journey.
Your hair is of a good quality and looks rugged-which should help ward against, damage, frizzies, split-ends etc in the future (you lucky son of a...!).
So read the advice here on the board, and in the archives, treat your hair right, look at pictures on the net, in popular culture and on the board here for inspiration, and above all, have fun with it!
Again, welcome.
And so are we. Welcome. This Mens Long Hair Hyperboard abounds in support and is very helpful with tons of info.
Your hair looks to be doing great for such a short period. If you click on my pic above it will show some dates and what my length was just a month or two ago.
I agree with you about the long straight Black hair bit. But, I am very happy with what I have.
A word of caution. DON'T get any trims or cuts as you grow your hair out. It is far better to get the growing-out process over with the quickest of all.
Again..........welcome. Thanks for sharing the pic with all of us.
Osiyo, otherwiseguy, fellow Cherokee decendant. You are off to a good start.... my hair looked a lot like your 3 years ago and the longer it got the straighter it got. Don't cut it you are well on your way to long locks! I'm brand new here too! Welcome,

Now that is some encouragement! You have really awesome (in the awe-inspiring sense) hair. If mine looks half that good someday I will be happy.
