I was at Food Lion today picking up few things. While checking out, the clerk which I figure to be a high school student, picks up the package of hair ties I bought, holds them up, and says, "sad when a guy has to buy these.". I just said, "no", and laughed. I was thinking inside, "sad that you are narrow minded". Most likely he was just having some fun.
Or, was he saying, "it's sad when the selection of hair ties for guys is so small that guys have to buy the ones that are for girls" ? Then he would not necessarily be narrow minded....
Wishing you happy growth, hair peace, and even better fun ;-)

Hans-Uwe,
LMAO, thats funny man! Maybe he was saying, It's sad that you have that great hair all tied up. ;-)
The guy a Food Lion is jealous he can't grow his har out! I get weird comments and looks sometimes when I buy hair ties as well, and on other occasions as well. I can remember my daughter's high school graduation was grueling because of looks and comments from people who hadn't seen me in a couple years. I choose to be "different" so I generally accept it. I smile and wish the person a "peaceful journey through life" That either makes em smile or freaks em out more! LOL

Yeah, these things happen. The ignoramouse at the checkout is being a smart... and is joking as if you are trying to be a women by growing your hair and tieing it etc.
He has no right to offend customers and i would probably complain to the management. I do some cashier/checkout work at my job and i treat every customer with respect. Sometimes i get these awful, awful looking mullets that come into the store, i try not to laugh but i definately wouldn't say anything to offend them or recognise they have a shocker of a mullet. If people want to be narrow minded and ignorant, then let them be, but they shouldn't say what they think out loud, unless they want to cause offense.
Food Lion!?! I also remember a picture of you at Busch Garden's! I am in Fredericksburg, VA myself. We ought to meet up sometime!
Anyway, back to the topic - yeah, some people can be 'tards. Interestingly, I've never really gotten any dumb comments like that from the public about my hair myself. However, I do get the comments sometimes from my parents, plus there is one guy that is always getting on my case about my hair. However, at least he does just to screw around with me.
On a positive note, I remember one evening when I went over to a local Ruby Tuesday's restaraunt to grab something to eat. The waitress was just absolutly ga-ga over my hair. She was making comments like, "Oh my God! That hair is just gorgeous!" She was calling her coworkers over saying things like, "Check out that guy's hair - oh my God, how I wish I had hair like that!", and so on! I was just grinning myself, and I did thank her for the compliments about my hair. I also left a nice tip.
In a teleconference a few weeks back, the project manager asked "Since you've been working with the Marines for so long, are you sporting a High and Tight or still wearing it Low and Brave"?
I found it ammusing, I kind of like it.
