This may be old news but I recently found out that George Steinbrenner imposes a dress code on the Yankees that prohibits long hair and facial hair, although a mustache is acceptable.
I find that so, not right.
Perhaps my anger is more towards Steinbrenner than The Yankees, but knowing that, I wouldn't want to play on that team to begin with.
Let's Go Mets! LOL.
Actually, I am a Mets fan, but not just due to that, but cause my friends got me hooked to them :)
It certainly is not right at all, and well, I don't have the time or energy to go into why it is not, but then, you already know, don't you?
I'm a Braves fan anyway.
Well that must be the power big teams in american sports that's for sure and they can command that. My view is don't play for the team but that's a personal decision.

I would point out if you're an athlete and you've got a team
who is willing to pay you millions of dollars to play a kids
game then all means go for it. Yeah it would be nice to
have long hair but I would point out one injury could be
a career ender for you. So you go for the milions of dollars
while you can. For too many athletes after the career is
over they are flat broke, having inhaled all that money up the
nose, into the arm, or gambled it away.
This is nothing new. We heard all about the day that traitor
Johnny Damon signed with the evil empire.
Not only did he sign with the evil empire, he also cut his
hair. Yeah Steinbrenner doesn't allow long hair but then
Red Sox fans are not happy with him.
Of all the teams in baseball he had to sign with the Yankees.
I live in New YOrk, but if I had to pick a team it would be the Yankees. I just don't approve of losers.
See I'm a fairweather fan, if you win I like you, but if you lose even once, burn in h***
Baseball sux anyway. I personally am apethetic about the two most hated baseball teams in history.
New York Yankees and Chicago Whitesox.
Its beyond me why they get so much hatred from the rest of the country. Just because they can win.
I realize this is a dead thread.....but that policy has been in place for like 30 years (if not longer). They made Oscar Gamble cut his trademark afro.
Anyway, it strikes me as a little gay that George is so obsessed with his boys being so neat and tidy. Former Yankee Catcher Joe Girardi took this ideal with him to the Florida Marlins, where he now manages.
I'd tell either one of them to go eff themself. But then, I hate the Yankees anyway.
