I've been growing my hair for over 3 years already, its a few inches past my shoulders. Anyhow, throughtout this whole time, I have always been losing a lot of hair, and therefore my hair was frizzy. I'm obviously not balding, since it grows back. But I brush it and straighten it a lot, and often lose a couple hairs in the process. Now all over my hair, there are small hairs sticking out, as well as a lot of short hairs at the top. It's making my hair look very thin, actually, while I always used to have thick hair. Anything I can do to fix this, while it grows back in the meantime?
Also, second question, how can I make the middle parting of my hair not form a ^ shape, but make the hair go immediately to the sides, in an upside down U?
Stop straightening. It's far more damaging than brushing. I recall one guy posting here whos hair looked like a tattered flag. He stopped straightening and after a year or so it was noticeably fuller and healthier looking.
If you really, really, really want the straight look then it's a search for the gentlest method possible and/or only doing it when you really want the look. I'm not sure what the gentlest method is, that's a bit of a different question.
FWIW, I've never straightened mine and I still get frizzies. Natural oils and a little bit of jojoba will make them lay down and be less obvious. Wash as infrequently as possible and consider jojoba.
Even with the friz, yours looks great.
