I don't know. I feel like I HAVE to wash my hair when I am in the shower, and never, ever use the bathroom sink.
There are times when I don't need to shower, but need to wash my hair. My paranoia prevents from using the bathroom sink because I think the water is too tough. need help. thanks.
There will be no difference unless the water going to the showerhead and sink come from different places or if the shower alone has a water softening head on it but the sink doesn't.

What's a water softening head? Sounds interesting. thanks.
There are kinds that attach to existing showerheads or are an entire replacement showerhead for filtering. The softening ones filter out minerals that can deposit on hair or skin. This page from About.com has a simple definition and discussion of hard and soft water. http://chemistry.about.com/cs/howthingswork/a/aa082403a.htm

Like Her Majesty says, the water's coming from the same place, unless you've got a _very_ unusual plumbing system.
Dissolved minerals in the water supply will vary greatly from place to place, depending on the source of the water. Currently where I live, it's very hard, and leaves tough water spots all over my car when I wash it (so I have to use a filter). I have no idea what it does to my hair, good or bad (probably bad, of course).
