I did a buzz cut December first. This was because of some bad plumbing work that we had done in our house where they dipped the pipes in the glue, it got in the shower, and it burned all my hair off.
My question is, now that I have a clean slate to work from, how long will it take to grow sholder length hair?
It is 1 inch long now.
thanks.
Man, I sympathise with your unfortunate experience!
The expected time it takes for your hair to reach shoulder length is about 1 to 1.5 years. But still, it largely depends on your hair's growth rate and maybe... the length of your neck ;)
Good luck and happy growing.
Hair grows at varying rates, but is said to average from 0.5" to 1" per month. Also, it seems to shed more in Fall and Winter and grow slower at these time, and speed up in Spring and Summer (at least for me). I suggest:
- Eat adequate protein, but not too much since it causes calcium depletion from the bones.
- Avoid too much junk food.
- Reduce stress.
-Take B-vitamins.
-Take anti-oxidant vitamins (A, C, E; for Vitamin E: get the d-alpha tocopherol, NOT the dl-alpha tocopherol which does not absorb as well)
- Get moderate exercise.
- Use a shampoo that does not have Sodium Laurel Sulfate, or any Sodium Sulfate. I've noticed that when I use such shampoo, my scalp itches and I have increased shedding of hairs.
- Sleep enough, for it is at night that much repair and growth occurs.
