I just got back from my vacation in London, England and I enjoyed it!!!! The people there were EXTREMELY nice and helpful. Surprisingly, I had no problems or ignorant remarks about my long hair!!! In fact, there appeared to be more guys sporting the long hair look over there that here in the U. S.!! It seemed that even the young/teenage boys had long hair (Which was GREAT to see!!). Some of their soccer (football) players even had long hair. I felt VERY comfortable vacationing in London, England. I WILL be going back!!! Thank you to the members of this board who responded to my post on this board regarding my concerns of having long hair in London, England who were from the UK. You told me the truth and eased my fears!!!
Glad you had a great time over here and there should be no reasons that people should not visit even with those couple of bombs last year.
Shame you didn't get a chance to meet any of use over here and hope you will do so next time.

I'm sure English people are useful sometimes :-)

P. S. : There are too many Roberts on this board!!!
Glad you enjoyed - long hair is becoming quite foirmly established here in many ages from children into aging adults!
Started two years back and the fruits can now be seen.
It is quite well accepted in most places.

Hello,
I went to London, for three days in 2005, and stayed with my good friend, John and had a great time. I would say, London has as many longhairs as Montreal Canada, and much more than New York City, or Paris in France. I noticed a few in suits, or working in restaurants, and on the streets.
I never had one negative comment about my hair in the city, and people respect you no matter what. I managed to chat up with perfect strangers in museums as well which is a pleasant experience. In art galleries, it seems there are people who want to share opinions about artists and their works. London seems to have a high degree of culture, and museums and galleries are free. I visited the British Museum, and the National Gallery. In the end I treated my host to a dinner at a fine pub in Windsor and we had a great dinner.
The only downside of London is that everything is expensive, that is why I kept my trip short. The fact that museums are free did help compensate for the costs in train fares and restaurant food during my day trips. The pound is woth about $2.00 canadian, and the prices are numerically similar, but are really like twice what things would cost in Canada.
Have a nice day,
Georges in Montreal.
Really? Sounds like I should put Montreal, Canada on my list of places to vacation in the near future!!!
You are absolutely right!!! The people are extremely nice. I received NO negative comments about my hair either. I also visited the National History Museum, the Science Museum, and the Victoria and Albert (V & A) Museum. They all have free Admission. The food is GREAT there also!!! I had dinner at the Green Door Steakhouse, Harrods Department Store, and a couple of Italian Restaurants. There are many McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Burger King restaurants there also.
AGREE!!! The pound is worth $2.00 American as well. But I needed a vacation. I stayed there for a week and hated to leave!! My favorite tour: the Beatles Story in Liverpool (A one day trip).
You have a nice day also. If I plan to visit Montreal, Canada, I'll let you know. I would look forward to meet YOU!!
