So yes, I've officially finished school now, only have to go in for 5 more exams. Which means no more administration telling me to get my hair cut on pain of death (in their case suspension and withdrawl from exams. Talk about over reaction).
Sorry, just wanted to share that, it's nice not to have a bounty out on my hair!
Looks really good Kai, you have obviously been growing for a long time, and you made it through school. So did they just start harassing you lately or had they been threatening for years and never really did anything about it?
Either way glad you made it :)
It's just seemed to be lately, in the past few years. Think some of it is the type of school I go to, they're got the idea that we're all going to go to top school and do top jobs. Which apparently long hair doesn't suit! But whatever, it's over and my hair is free again.
Thanks for the positive words guys, keep the hair alive!
Kai
I'm glad you stuck it out, my friend, cuz sometimes it gets very difficult in situations like that. I was shocked at reading that though as I didn't think school officials were ignorant and narrow-minded enough to threaten suspension on you if you didn't cut it. People really need to grow up and stop acting like it's the 50's! That doesn't show that our society has advanced very far
Pleased that you were able to stand your ground. I wish people would just grow up and stop worrying about unimportant things like someone else's hair length. So much for live and let live.
Your hair is really nice and suits you perfectly.
Good luck in the future and I hope you keep your hair that way. It's beautiful!

The education system in america is a "Failure" plain and simple. There is no dress code for teachers, yet administration says the students must have one, for disiplin. Uh huh !!
"Them, that can't,.......teach,....... Them that can't teach, ....teach physed.
Sorry you had such negative experiences in Phys Ed. I happen to be a high school Phys Ed teacher, and I strive to make the class enjoyable and educational for all.
I was passed through the US of A's public school system a little over a quarter-century ago and can unequivocally say that with the exception of one or two subjects, which were taught by, no, mentored by, absolutely gifted and interested individuals, the whole thing was a debacle that I would have really preferred to avoid. So, I'll have to agree with DawnAshley's comments -- especially when it came to "physical education".
"PhysEd" wouldn't have been so bad if the administration, or the teachers, had the simple brains to put all the "jocks" in one group and the average folks in another, but no! We've got to "integrate them"! All this meant was that the jocks would beat up on those who weren't either (1) hyper-competitive with a "kill-to-win" mentality, or (2) just not terribly adept physically. So, that was an unmitigated disaster. Most of the rest of it was, too, but that's because the US system is all about producing "sausage", not bright independent thinkers -- those tend to question authority and cause trouble.
What's this got to do with long hair? I was lucky enough (if you can call it that) to have been passed through in the final days when long hair was still more or less (slightly more less than more, if you get my drift) acceptable, and I skirted the official rule by never letting it get past my collar. I have no idea what the rules are these days, but I suspect that they're a lot more restrictive now than then -- and probably the quality of education (not teaching, mind you, those are two very different things) has gotten a lot worse.
Wow, your hair is like so cool!!! I want it!
That's the spirit!!!! It's a shame we still have 20th Century thinking (1950's) in the 21st Century regarding long hair on guys. Congratulations on your graduation from school. Now you can sing Alice Cooper's famous song: "Schools out for summer, Schools out FOREVER!"
Can I ask you which school you are graduating from?
Heey Kai, congrats on not giving in to you're school's nagging regarding you're hair as it is totally unnecessary. You're hair is looking cool from what I can see in the shot and you should grow it as long as you want. Hope you're exams went well and take it easy dude.
Keep it Growing and seeya Kai.
Wow! What kind of gestapo do you have at your school? Sounds awful. :P Glad you put up with it all the way
Yeah, they actually suspended people for having long hair when it was shorter than mine a while back, guess I lucked out for some reason. Can't remember if I said before, but I'm in the UK, go to an all guys school. It's the type of school that won't let students into the national exams we have to do (GCSEs) if there is a bit of your undershirt showing through your school uniform. Not kidding, they've done that too!
Where at in the UK? I'm just interested.
About 20 minutes away from Nottingham, little place called Grantham.
Nice looking hair by the way
yeah, society needs to chill...great looking hair btw.
Hi Kai,
your hair looks GREAT, by the way! Hope it grows forever!
I'm surprised that they do these things in the UK, I thought that this was a specialty of strange rural schools in certain parts of the US, where the 60's experience still repeats itself.
I have worked in the UK in the late 90's, and as a professional, I have NEVER had any "hair problems", no BS from superiors, no rude remarks on the street (one place near Stoke-on-Trent and another just east of London).
By the way, I do appreciate that school uniforms can contribute to integration and discipline under certain circumstances, and school uniforms can always be taken off after school, but I'm surprised that they do old-fashioned things that were kind-of rare in Britain in the 60's as far as I know.
Maybe I saw a UK that was different from what you and eg Luke "Hairmonster" have experienced? Are they more tolerant towards guys over 35?
Hope everything continues to work out great for you, good luck with the remaining exams!
