To sum it up, I have thick/wavy/frizzy hair. The only time it feels somewhat soft and healthy is around 5-6 after I've shampooed/conditioned (John Freida's Frizz-Ease products)(i only put a small amount of shampoo into scalp). Is there any way to not wash all the oils out of my hair and have healthy/soft looking and feeling hair sooner instead of almost a whole week of waiting after washing?
How long is your hair?
Length is said to reduce problems of frizz.
Are you letting it air dry or blow/heat dry?
Air dry is best, heat will damage hair and may even increase frizz.
A tip- when in the shower, on the final rinse, use cold water.
This will close the hair cuticles and should reduce frizz and make your hair shinier and softer.
Another tip- whilst showering, do not use hot water, it will wash away all your valuable sebum and natural oils. Cooler or warm water is better. Otherwise, just wear a shower cap :)
A shower cap is a great device for non-wash days, saves the hassle and process of drying hair etc.
Hope this helps :)
Firstly the advice given by 80s_metal is great. I have very thick curly shoulder length hair which is very prone to frizziness.
I noticed my hair has almost no frizz when i go surfing in winter. i always thought this had something to do the salt water, but yet when i go in summer my hair is full of frizz.
i now believe that its due to the cold water. i now always try and wash my hair under cold water and it works great. occasionally on really cold days ill rinse with hot water and i always regret it afterwards coz i end up with loads of frizz.
i still relate to what you are saying, my hair also feels at its best about 5 days after washing and then it's time to wash it again. It is frustrating. Maybe some other people have more advice?
In the meantime go for cold water, this will hopefully minimise frizz, it works for me.
my hair still does suffer from dryness at the ends though. I'm in the process of trying various products to help with this problem, the best so far has been leave in conditioner product.
goodluck
My hair is almost 2 feet long
I always air dry
Never use hot water and use a cold final rinse and I wear a shower cap on non-washing days.
Perhaps on those days you could just condition the areas that tend to be dry.
No, not Freida's Frizz-Ease products..I have tried those. Did not work for me.
Try L'Oreal Studio-Line MELTing Gel and work it throughout your hair. That is, use it
as a hair DRESSING. That's right...a hair DRESSING.
Although it is called a 'gel' it acts more like a detangler, hair smoother and frizz relaxer.
also: Get some L'Oreal Studio Line LIQUID SPRAY gel.
Spray it on your damp OR dry hair and then take a washcloth (dry or slightly damp) and stroke down your hair with it.
Frizz will be gone. Bye bye. It works.
