its been about a year now, and when I get my hair wet, and it air drys, I am still experiencing flips! this really sucks because it is discouraging from growing my hair long, when will the flips go away 1.5 years? so maybe 6 more months? I plan on posting pictures later.
Hello Logan!
I don't know if I can call this "help", but I am almost in the 2nd year mark and I still have flips... You know, I believe they are caused by thin ends, which are caused by all the layers from the untrimmed hair... At least in my case. Either ways, once your hair grows away from your shoulders (which I'm almost in) the flips will disapear or stay, but they will surely look better. A hair with zero flips is an evened out hair, which I plan to have by the end of my journey... you have to be really patient and stick to your hair =) Good luck =)
I´ve been growing mine for about 27 months and I still got some flips...
You´ll get used to them, don´t worry... and when you less expect it, they will go away!
Holy crap! I just noticed something! I'm almost entirely flip-free!
Yes, it has been almost 1.5 years. Just keep at it. After about a year I still had some major flipping. But you're almost there.
you can always get them trimmed off... noone advises trims but after a year and a half of hair growth, i find trims shud be perfectly fine but not as frequent as once every weeks ¬.¬ id say trims once every few months... but it depends how much yoru able to put up with flips and how fast you want to reach your hair goal =) trims arent such a horrid story as they seem to be made out lol id personally find nothin wrong with flicks though =) their cool!
you havnt been growing your hair out for that long. In your previous posts you said the longest it got was 4 months growth and you "couldnt swing it around". Jesus, why the lies???
technically, I have only been growing my bangs out for a year...the rest I have kept short.
This is probably not the encouragement that you need but my hair is about 12 inches long and there is still a massive flip in the back which refuses to go away(and trust me I have tried). As it stands you have two options if you still want long hair. The first is to have it cut so that your hair physically can't flip or just learn to cope and accept that your hair might be like this for the duration of having long hair. The situation might not be great but it's better than doing something drastic.
In my case it took 2-1/2 years before the flips ended despite how long my hair was at that point. But, once gone, they are gone for good.
Your pics show that you have wavy hair, and wavy hair is notorious for flipping which I have had to deal with
I'm not so sure about cutting off the flip to keep it from doing it, because I tried that. If your hair is stubborn like that, chances are that when you cut off the flip, it will flip at its new length as well. If it does that on the ends naturally, then it will do that at any length. I've found this out from experience unfortunately
If I were you, I'd probably just start letting the sides and back grow so you don't postpone the day when you'll have to deal with those flips in the back, because you will eventually if you keep growing. Just try to let it grow even, so your hair doesn't end up being disproportionate in length
My hair tends to flip out too at the ends. I just take a round brush and brush them in the opposite direction so they flip under. Sometimes my hair just does what it wants.
