OK, this sounds a little off topic, but it really isn't. How do you deal with the massive hair clogs you get in the sink and shower drains! I moved into a house, and completely re-did all the drain lines. Just a few days ago, I had hair-clogs from hell in the shower and bathroom sink, and had to take all the pipes back apart. I'm talking serious clogs! plungers had no effect, and drain-o just sat there!
Get strainers for each drain. Any hardware store should have them. If you don't find something that goes with the drain you have, get a strainer that just sits on top of the shower floor. The one I got is made of thin white rubber and at first glance looks like a large straw sombrero for a doll - the wide solid "brim" rests on the floor and the "hat" part has many openings to allow water to pass through, but it will catch hair.
My hair's down to my butt.
Over the years I've spent lots of time messing with drain cleaners and strainers, nothing worked. Then I accidently discovered inexpensive liquid bleach works best....once the drain is unclogged a bit.
A gallon of bleach costs about a buck on sale. After you shampoo just pour a cup or so down the shower or tub drain...let it sit. The bleach will eat up whatever hair went down the drain.
Simple easy effective and cheap
What does it do to PVC pipes? I heard no mixing Bleach with plastic parts like in the toilet tank, it eats away at them.
Ummm...it, like, comes in a plastic bottle man....and it sits in the plastic bottle a lot longer than it sits in plastic pipes. I doubt the bleach you pour down the drain to eat up the organic stuff that accumulates is gonna harm the inorganic plastic..
To get clogs that are not too far from the drain, I have had success with pulling apart a wire coat hanger until it is a long straight wire, and then forming a hook with the end of it, and stick the hook down the drain as far as necessary to catch the hair-fish.
