I'm not a socer fanatic, far from, but i am enjoying the world cup, well who isn't? lol
I'm, excited for Australia aswell, although i doubt we can crush Croatia, let alone Brazil, lol.
I have been staying up late to watch some of the matches, because of the time difference most of the matches are broadcast from 12am onwards, which is difficult to watch them all(unless you record them).
Juan Sorin from Argentia has very long, dark hair.
One of the English players has awesome corn rows, can't recall his name :(
Too bad, none of the aussie players have long hair, expect for Joshua Kenedy, who has longish hair.
Then of course, Rhonaldino, has nice, dark curly locks, which stay in a ponytail when he is on the field.
There are alot of players i have seen with longish styles on all the teams, good to see this. Mexico has a few long hairs, or longish.
I really like this guys hair, from Mexico team.

Any others cool long hair socer players in the world cup or anything other remarks you guys have, feel free to post.
there are a few there, but not that much
mexico have got rafael marquez, who's pretty good. apart from him and the players you've mentioned, there isn't really anyone i can think of.
my blog
Rio Ferdinand.
I have always noticed longer hair is quite common among the south american teams.
Also, I spent a year travelling through south america and i noticed that long hair is very frequent. Especially the younger adults and teenagers, long hair was quite abundant (maybe this was just the places i went and/or the types of people i hung out with).
Either way, it was definately more common overall than any other places I have lived, including USA,England,Australia where the majority of board members seem to be from.
Does anyone know the reason for this? is it a cultural thing? or is it all in my head??
Either way, the world cup is great, go Australia and anyone with longhair!!! :)
Too bad, none of the aussie players have long hair, expect for Joshua Kenedy, who has longish hair.
Harry Kewell.
That's a shame with the time difference - the games here all kick off in the afternoon onwards, so we get plenty of chances to see as many as possible.
Although the last World Cup was held in Japan, which meant kick off times were at breakfast!
From August 2001, Kewell lost interest since we (Leeds United) piad him £30,000 a week. Plus he had a lot of problems with injuries. Then, he signed for Liverpool under Rafa Benitez, and almost all his signings are bad (Morientes anyone?).
Still have some respect for Mark Viduka though :)
Kewell cut his hair only recently, and that is not cool!
Why!!!
I just caught a glimpse of him - it looked better before.
I had no idea he'd done that.
Yes what a waste of money Morientes & Kewell has been :-(
mexico is evil but then again im biased because im from iran =) but i have many south american friends and i have heard them talk about their countries and almost all the guys have long hair there i guess people just don't have a problem about it over there
I'm enjoying the nice weather instead :)
I know I'm very atypical in the fact that I care nothing, whatsoever, about soccer.

I'm enjoying my Dad being too into the game to notice my rather not-tidy hair when I get up in the mornings, lol. Oh, and that he's enjoying himself. Sometimes you feel parents don't get to do that enough.
Two observations/questions:
1) Soccer, compared to every other sport, seems to have more than its fair share of long hairs. I wonder why this is?
2) Americans (including me), compared to almost every other nationality, are generally indifferent towards the world's most popular sport. I wonder why this is?
You have american football that not many of us Europeans understand and it's always stop/start!!!
John.B
Generally Americans, except for the kids coming up through high school now and those younger, did not grow up playing the game. It has only been in the last 15-20 years that soccer has become as popular as the other sports here.
Do you really call Juan Sorin's hair "very long"? It might be "long" for a football player, but on the other hand I would never call Sorin's hair VERY long. We have had many examples of really long hair here on this board, and Juan Sorin's hair could never be compared to them. On the other hand, the long-haired men we talked about were not sportsmen, of course.
Uwe

Hi 80s,
good to see that the Australian team scored against the Japanese team. I know you'll like that even if you're not a soccer fan.
One guy from the German team, Torsten Frings, is growing out his hair. He looks happy on these pictures beause he contributed to the victory over the Costa Rican team.
Best wishes,
Hans-Uwe
Cameronese of Italy has cool hair, straight in a ponytail. Pretty much the same length as mine, too.
