...their first World Cup game in 32 years! (i.e. because we haven't qualified for it since 1974!).
The pub I was watching it in went nuts within the final 10 minutes when we scored the equalising goal against Japan, and then went on to score 2 more!
My glassess were knocked pretty hard and sent askew and had to be bent back into shape and with all the 'man love' going on in there with my friends, my hair was in clear and present danger for a bit. I know a certian ponytail tie will never be the same again.
But we won! WHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
P.S. Kewel looks OK, but he really should have kept the hair (at the very least, I always thought he should have grown it a bit longer as that ponytail of his was always so tight).
!
Congratulations man! i was watchin the game at home aswell.... the last 10 minutes were very exciting!! its definitely a good start for them! Have u noticed Josh Kennedy's hair?? he's an australian forward.... its pretty long and cool. he was wearing a hair band in the game today 2 keep it back.
Congratulations on the Win, Fancy Australia for the World cup now !!!!!
What a great match. I only got to watch the first half because i had to wake up early for an exam the next day and needed atleast 7 hours sleep to function, lol. However, i got the good news in the morning, i'm so happy!
Viduka was on fire!
Harry Kewel was not playing 100% but that is understandable considering he is still recovering from an injury.
His hair looks fine short, it wasen't very long before anyways, it suits him.
We are very lucky to have such a great coach, Hinnik.
What a stragetic move, to put the reserve players Tim Cahill and Aloisi in the last few minutes, which ultimately led us to victory.
Japan should have never scored that goal, it was a definite foul. Atleast the Egyptian referee apoligised after the match for his mistake. The thing i dislike about soccer, is that the ref doesn't get to watch slow motion replays, multi angled camera views and other tehniques to determine the outcome, we have to trust the ref with his eyes and ears solely, in calling the shots.
On a side note, Nakazawa, one of the key players and defenders for Japan is nicknamed "Bomber head" because of his long hair(or should i say, longish, considering the context of this board).
I truly did underestimate Australia and i believe we have as much chance as any team to go ALL THE WAY !!!
It will be interesting to see the outcome when we take on Croatia, and Brazil. Tough matches lie ahead!
Hope you did really well. I'm finishing off a major essay at the moment, and then I have 3 exams next week. I feel your pain! Good luck with it all buddy.
meh. He played much better in the first half. That said we certainly would do better with him than without. He's a quality player.
I agree...to an extent. Either he should have it short like it is now, or he should grow it really long.
Did you see how he pushed that Japanase guy (do you know who it was if you saw it/heard about it?)
Aloisi!!!!!!!
It was definitely good that he apologised. Still, what a wrought!
As for the replays thing, I feel that way too sometimes, yet it adds a certain flair and flow to the game that wouldn't be there if you sat analyisng it forever. It also adds risk and chance (and righteous anger!) to the game.
Besides it's not like in Cricket (where the ball is going so fast and has to be co-ordinated with the batsmen) or Rugby, where the try can be scored from angles that can be really tight and need a video ref to see whther downwards pressure really was applied or not.
But I see where you are coming from nonetheless :)
Damn straight!
It's so good to be a part of it again isn't it?
That's not tough! We're tough!
Seriously though, those matches should be really interesting.
Just fantastic.

LOL, i just can't help myself, i had to give Guus a mullet.
BTW, ,my photoshop skills suck, i have to drastically soften the image so you don't see boxes, lol.
At universities around Australia random people are hugging and celebrating this game.
No seriously, they ARE.
At least at CSU they are ;)
What a magical place that must be
i.e. didn;t happen today at Sydney Uni.
Who wants to hug Dean? He needs it people...
...ah CSU, that really is nice to hear.
