This is a bit of a stupid question, but I'm from the UK and I don't know what "bangs" means, or mean. Could someone please enlighten me?
Hey,
I'm from the UK too, and also didn't at first understand what the hell bangs mneant, but i've since found out that it means your fringe. Hope that clears up the confusion.
Thanks.
I'm from Singapore (a country that uses British English). I initially didn't know what "Bangs" were, but as a frequent visitor of this board, this is what I've inferred:
They refer to short fringes that usually reaches the level right above the eyes or eyebrows. Generally, people who'd like to keep long hair but did not want their hair to come into their way in front of the eyes without tying their hair up, they'll keep short fringes (Bangs), and in extreme cases, a "Mullet" results.
Hence, "Bangs" cannot be used on a shorthair as the short fringe is not significant in this case. On the other hand, if a longhair is referred to as "Having no Bangs", it doesn't mean that the front is completely shaved, it just means that the hair is all one length.
Don't look at me, I keep having the reverse problem with "fringes".
Well, the bangs/mullet definition is not clear in the above paragraph.
Generally, bangs are when only the hair over the forehead is kept short. A mullet has short sides and top as well.
