Another pic from the same day.
I had a trim a month ago and also cut some lenght in the back..cause the back was longer than the sides..now it's all the same lenght. I hadn't had a trim for over a year and a half.
I hope this will help some people who are thinking about cutting their hair. I had a hard time letting mine grow..but I finally made it. If I made it, you can make it. I guess that what I'm trying to say is: never give up.

I think your goal would suit you well. It is similar to mine in that I am also aiming for waist (then cut back to elbow later!?) length.
I wish my natural part was to the side and not straight in the centre of my head. Yours though, it really does suit you.

Actually, there isn't such a thing as a natural part. I know because long before I was a longhair I used to part my hair on the side, which seemed very "natural" for my hair. If you comb it to part it the way you want it while it is wet (like when you get out of the shower), and then you keep doing that for a while, it will stay.
Most people have hair that is arranged in a whorl around some point at the back of their heads. Most whorls go clockwise, but some go anticlockwise. This is why most parts are on the left. There's not a strict line where the part goes, but there is a definite area where the part prefers to be. Part of it is simply the interaction between gravity, topology, and the orientation of the hairs. By combing the hair when wet, you can tweak the orientation of the hairs somewhat, but that is adjusting FROM the natural position.
