Hi all! It's been 9 months since I got my last hair cut, and my progress is good.
Front: I try and keep my hair pushed back, but not entirely behind my ears; slightly over them.
Side: Profile view, me in my 'thinking' pose.
Bangs: They're going below my chins now. Though, my front hairs are considerably longer than my rear hairs.
I can kind of create a ponytail, but it doesn't quite hold. Maybe another 3 months for that, otherwise I have to wear a cap when I'm doing any physical activities/sports. My target length is that enough to comfortably hold a full ponytail; I don't think I quite want to do the super-long hair thing.
Overall I'm content, and so far I haven't had any troubles from other people because of my hair. My parents are supportive (my mom suggested I should do it in the first place). I recently visited India (I'm from the US); I was expecting many negative comments but I was pleased that everyone (my relatives) liked it. Though there are several celebrities (actors, a cricket player) there with this type of longish hair, so it is becoming the fashion there. I've heard from previous posts of Indians being strict about hair, but I have not encountered anything of this sort. In addition, I recently had my college graduation party and everyone complimented my change in style. Now that I am starting graduate studies (PhD in engineering), I see many of my fellow colleagues as well as professors with liberal hair styles, which makes it a nice environment for myself.
No, it isn't good, it is fantastic progress beyond a shadow of a doubt. How lucky you are. Looks great!!!!!!!!
Very nice - keep up the good work!

That is looking great! I'm so glad you have not had any problems. With your dark and thick hair, already as good as it looks, it is going to look way cooler with just a little more length. Good luck in your studies, and keep it growin.
Namaste
Aren't there parts of Indian culture where males, for religious reasons, are discouraged from cutting their hair?
Actually yes, in Sikhism the hair (facial and head) are kept uncut, and often you see these people with turbans (mistaken for Arabs sometimes). Though for Hindus (myself included), it's rare to see long-haired men (on the other hand, women traditionally never cut their hair).
Looks very good! In fact, give it about a year and your hair will up there with the best on this board.
Good luck with your education too. Just don't get too caught up in your studies that you slip out of a good haircare routine.

Looks real good chych, glad you haven't had any hassles about your hair at school or from family. I must say I am amazed that your mother was the instigator of growing out your hair, that sure is a surprise lol.
Congratulations on your college graduation and good luck with your PhD, that sounds like a very demanding degree!
