I have quite fine hair thats prone to damage so I usually wash it once a week but it get grecey within 24 hours so I just wear a hat all the time. Id feel better if I washed my hair daily but it dont want it to get full of splits. I know these could be trimmed by a stylist but believe they will probably cut too much off.
So what should I do wash my hair daily to get rid of grece, but have possibly worse condition hair; but at the same time feel better about myself, or wash it once a week and wear a hat?
Hi there =)
I've got very thick hair but I think I can help you, since I treat my sister's hair and her's is really thin as well... I guess you should wash your hair 2-3 times a week maximum. You should be extra carefull when washing it, caring not to pile your hair on the top of your head, but leave it on your back while you rub your scalp only. Then you only have to massage the rest of your hair (the lenght) for the shampoo to wash the rest of the hair, than remove and use a proper shampoo and conditioner for oily hair. I don't think you should wash your hair daily, it's too bad for it... Hope it helped, any other advice you can ask =) Either ways, this site gots plenty of hair info and also a section on how to wash long hair - http://www.tlhs.org Enjoy, hope I helped =)
Normally I shampoo and condition, then skip 2 or 3 days then do it again. Plus I condition once more during that 2-3 day period. So far that schedule has kept my hair nice and healthy and has helped relax my wavy hair to a point where it only has a slight wave that looks good and is easy to manage. But I still have to get mny hair a little wet every day in order to style it, because its impossible to comb it out of bed-head when I wake up, so I just take a quick shower and get my hair damp. Another piecer of advice I have is to finger comb your hair on shampoo and condition days to remove hair that has either died or come out. It keeps your hair from getting too thick/unmanageable and keeps it really healthy looking.
I would "try" for two weeks washing every two days and being sure of using tons of conditioner. And I would take that hat and turn it into a Frisbie. Eventually after a long enough time your hair "WILL" look very fine.
I have fine hair also. I work outside in the Southern US, which necessitates that I wash my hair everyday.
Also, what is the use of having longer hair if you have to hide it under a hat all week?
As many have said, use lots of conditioner, and try not to tangle your hair as you wash. You should be OK. I don't have a problem with mine.
I had greasy/oily hair for the last 3 months. I had my mom look at it, and she did a deep shampooing for me which helped a TON. Make sure you find a good shampoo that will strip away oils, dirt, etc. from your hair.
When you use shampoo, make sure you get your scalp lathered.
