I've noticed that over the last half year, my hair's been looking pretty drab. I've worn it in a ponytail for about the last six months, but I'd really like to wear it down more often. The main reason why I don't, aside from practicality, is that it really doesn't look all that good. It's pretty "flat", and doesn't look nearly as good as it used to. I'd post a pic, but no longer have a working digital camera or scanner.
Does anyone have any suggestions for improving dull, lifeless hair? I plan on having it trimmed soon, and I'm considering slight layers, or at least >something<. I'm willing to sacrifice some length (no more than 2") for a better look, if it's possible.
Its hard to tell without a picture. the picture you do have
shows your hair to be cool enough for me to be jealous.
Maybe as it gets longer?
Or you could try to put some waves in it?
I don't think that you would be happy with layers.
If you want your hair to be more shiny, you can experiment with different shampoos or conditioners. Maybe some other people will have some suggestions for products. There are also long hair salons where you could get a conditioning treatment that might help.
If you want your hair to have some waves for a less flat look, try braiding your hair when it is damp, and letting it dry that way. When you take out the braids, you should have some waves. You could also get less flat hair by setting it using large velcro rollers- roll the damp hair and dry it with a blow dryer on low or let it dry naturally. The long hair salons suggest rollers for both men and women when they dry your hair.
I'm sure some layers would look nice with your hair type. But from looking at your avatar it looks great as is. If you do choose to change try and keep it looking natural. Too many times guys get a style change and it ends up taking hours to re-create. Also you'll want to take your time and be positive what your doing is what you want. Hair takes time to grow, and you dont want to mess up and have to wait for it to be fixed.
