I currently use Pantene "Smooth & Sleek" products on my hair (shampoo, Intensive Anti-Frizz Treatment, 2-minute Intensive Smoothing Conditioner, and Straight Without Weight Serum Mist). I think they are great - my hair is in fantastic condition.
However, most of the other grooming stuff I use (like moisturiser, shaving gel, and shower gel) is stuff that is labelled as not tested on animals. I haven't been able to find anything on the Pantene website or packaging about their animal testing policy, so I've just emailed them.
Can anyone recommend hair products that are not tested on animals & are available in the UK?
be careful and do your research thoroughly...
one line of hair care products (Paul Mitchell, for eample) may claim its Paul Mitchell labs do not test on animals ...true BUT that is because its parent company (Bristol-Myers) does the testing in its Bristol-Myers labs
it is a matter of who owns whom and can provide the cover
my business (men's grooming) website
I will. I'm actually quite suspicious when necessary :-)
I've emailed my question to Pantene. If I get a reply, I'll encourage them to post it here too.
Hi Andrew
The parent company for the Pantene Pro-V range of products is Procter & Gamble who do test their products & ingredients on animals. If you live in the UK then you can contact 'Naturewatch'who publish a 'Compassionate Shopping Guide' which gives details of the animal testing policy for each company & their fixed cut off dates(not only hair care products but household products, charities, ethical investment etc).I have foung these guide invaluable in pursuit of a cruelty free lifestyle. It only costs about £1.50.They can be contacted as follows:

I find the Charles Worthington hair care range very good ( these are endorsed by the guide with a 1987 fixed cut off date)
Hope this helps! Feel free to ask for any further advice :-)
Man Proctor and Gamble seems to make just about everything... no way to avoid them (especially if you like Pringles!)
Thanks - I've ordered the guide from http://www.naturewatch.org/shoppingguide/csg.asp
I'll have a look at them if Pantene is animal-tested.
Have you tried lush? none of their stuff is animal tested, and its all vegetarian or vegan too. A lot of the stuff smells too girly for me, but there are some nice ones. the jungle conditioner is my favourite - smells fantastic and makes my hair look awesome :) The shampoo bars dry my hair out too much, but the liquid shampoos are great.
In all seriousness, the smell of the shop is enough to put me off. It is enough to blurr my vision, and make my eyes water!
yup - that's why i love their web site :)
you could try original source if you dont mind buying something from a company that tests other products on animals (original source is part of pz cuzzons). no original source stuff is tested on animals, and it's all vegan except for some of their soaps AFAIK.
I havent tried them, but Toms of Maine are meant to be a good brand - you'll probably need to order it online tho, i've never seen their products in a uk shop
