Yes, i'm still alive, if you were wondering. The Socceroos were robbed of their world cup dream and it has "gutted" the nation. One thing i can't stand about FIFA soccer is the amount of dodgy referees and i even have suspicions about match fixings.
Markus Merk(ref) gave a horrible peformance when we played Brazil, what did he think he was doing?
The final straw occured when the Australian defender Lucas Neil was awarded a free kick against him, in the final seconds of the match, for an alleged sliding tackle on the Italian forward near the goal line. It was clear and obvious that the Italian opportunisticly fell on top of him after he slided. There was no contact by Lucas Neil! This unfair free kick sealed out world cup fate. Anyways, now that is out of my system, i feel much better now.
On a positive note -
I have noticed many instances of longhair or longish styles becoming popular or 'mainstream' in 'society'.
When i say 'mainstream' and 'society' i mean popular culture and media that i am exposed to every day in my life. When i turn on the tv i often see advertisements that have males with semi-long styles etc. The male clothing models in the K-mart and other general stores catalouges are sporting frequent 'mop tops' and longish styles. I have never noticed this until recently. All the models used to have short, conservative cuts and now the styles are longer. It definitely represents a shifting attitude towards male long hair. I think male long hair is "in", "stylish", "cool". Obviously "long hair" being anything from chin length to shoulder length. I have yet to see many mainstream males who have hair longer than this represented in popular culture. I don't know about the rest of the world, just my humble observations based on my geographical situation and area i live in. I see lots of kids and teens with the 'longish' styles in the streets and in public too.
Last saturday i went out shopping in my local city. I saw so many longhairs, i don't think i have seen so many in one day in random different places. And they were all looong aswell. I was very suprised to find so many in a single day! I've nicknamed it "80s day", lol. It's wierd like that, sometimes i won't see any longhairs and other days i might see atleast 10!
Glad you are still alive.
Also glad you are seeing so many more longish styles.
Those buzzed heads to me were just nothing. Imean no creativity,
no imagination, no nothing.
As for soccer, we got knocked right off but I think it was our
(USA) fault.
Hi 80s
I think you're right about soccer - the Italian players put on a smart SHOW, and the referee fell for it. They usually train that kind of "pretending to be hurt"-type of thing. The Australian team did play great soccer at this year's world cup.
One of my colleagues at work is a dual citizen (Argentinian/German), and we tease him a bit about tomorrow's game. Well, the German team may only have a 30-40% chance of winning against Argentina, and he teases us right back :-) we'll see...
In any case, it's good to see more and more longish and long hairstyles in the public. There's always an up- and a downswing - fortunately, the number of long-haired men in public has been increasing more or less consistently during the last few years here. Unfortunately, there ara also the few whom we would perceive as "selling out"...
The best thing I saw yesterday was a really young guy with a hairline way back (serious MPB), combined with a strong bushy mid-back ponytail - it looked great! Too bad I was on my way to work and in a hurry. I would have liked to tell him "Hey, your pony tail is phantastic, and the high hair line / long hair combo looks absolutely cool" because that was exactly the case.
In any case, all the best to all of you!

Yes, exactly. World cup soccer is as much of an acting skill as it is a ball game skills. I really cannot stand these players who pretend they get injured and try to manipulate the ref in their favour. Any good ref can see through this falsification.
Oh, indeed! And we have made our mark in World Cup history and have proved to the whole world that were are Aussies and we have the spirit to overcome any team!
The world now recognises the Soceroos as a legitimate soccer team, of world class skill, not to be taken lightly.
We'll be back in 2010, don't you worry :)
Now that will be interesting. It reminds me of all the Australian born Croatian background players. With the AUS VS CRO match there where players on both teams who had a mix of Croatian and Australian cultural and geographical ties. Very interesting match! Mark Viduka is Croatian but he is the captain for Australia!
I'm bleesed to have such a good, thick strong roots of full hair. Atleast that poor guy has the guts to grow it long, in the back atleast. He might get mocked for having a "mullet" or "skullet". BTW, i saw the BIGGEST mullet that came into my work yesterday. It was shorn at the front and very long at the back, i tried to contain my laughter, don't want to upset customers, lol.
BTW, i got your email. Just didn't respond. Yes, i understood what you were saying, you making clear sense. Thanks Hans.
Ever seen Devin Townsend of Strapping Young Lad? 8^)

I have also noticed this. This is perhaps the reason I decided late last year to grow my hair. The styles appealled to me so, for something completely different, I decided to go long.

Yep. The other week I caught a train home from Manchester (England) and there was a longhair already in the train carriage. After a few minutes another one hopped on. And another. Then at the next station I had to catch a connecting train, and not only saw yet another longhair waiting on the platform, but one of the train operators had cool mid-back blond hair. This was at like 9-10pm when hardly anybody was about, so for longhairs to make up such a large percentage was cool.
Maybe that IS the reason I saw so many - they only came out at night time! Haha.

I've to have noticed quiet few long hairs around lately. In the area I live I see 1 or 2 every time I go out. Last week I went to a large shopping centre close to me and I saw at least 5 there.
This may sound strange but I have noticed more guys with long hair since I started to grow mine.
I know what you mean about seeing more longhairs, I've seen a bunch at my college. I just got out of catholic high school, so I've seen far too many crew cuts and short hair. Very refreshing to see some cool hair around.
I've been noticing more longhairs in the movies, too.
I still like a lot of the hair in The Lord of the Rings, particularly Strider's. And if I can pull off the Mithrandir look when I'm an old man, that'll be just fine. 8^)
