How many others here have fine hair? I do and I'm just wondering if the awkward stage lasts longer with fine hair as opposed to thick hair.
not to be picky, Patrick, but we need to clarify--fineness and coarseness refer to the diameter of the individual hair shaft. thickness and thinness refer to the density of the hairs, i.e. the number of hairs per square inch. so fine and thick are not necessarily opposites.
anyway, my hair is coarse and i don't remember any real problems with the awkward stage, so i'd say the fine-haired ones have it tougher.
I have fine straight hair. I can't tell you how long the awkward stage will last, as I am right in the middle of it. With fine hair, the slightest breeze or movement has an effect on my hair.
I would guess it will last longer, as many of the posters here say the weight of the hair cures many of the ills of this stage. Since fine hair is thinner, it has to be longer to carry the same weight. And the growth rate is the same, hence the awkward stage for fine haired people should be a good bit longer than others.
I do, and despite the "Awkward Stage" is was still a time of all kinds of crazy things going on with my hair. Lucky for myself, I enjoyed all the phases............something new every day, and I cared not in the slighest what so-in-so might be thinking. Actually some of the styles that occured during the Awkward Stage I thought were really neat!
Despite thin hair, it appears very full thanks to Aussie. (Both Shampoo and Conditioner for Thin/fine hair.) It would still at the point I am at now look quite full, but whatever is in Aussie is really great.
